I just got a real nice baja chassis, and I am doing some mock up before I powder the frame, and am wondering how to mount the rear shock resi. On the lower left side of the sub-frame there are 2 bosses welded on, and the location is very close to where the resi mounts on the stock frame. I am not using the stock coolant bottle and some other parts, so I am trying to figure out what I can remove, just to clean the frame up a bit. Thanks for any help guys.

Are you running a stock rear shock, if so that is the only place to mount is on the left part of the sub frame. Unless you get a longer line for your ressy and mount it up under the gas tank on the right side or left side of the frame under the tank.

Yes, i am running a stock shock, revalved 89. Is there an aftermarket bracket that bolts to the subframe and cradles the resi? I emailed Lonestar, they said to contact Elka. I didn't see anything on Elka's website.

I have a pep mount that uses the bolts for the grab bar on my lonestar frame.

I'm not sure if the resi line is long enough to get back that far. I have an Ohlins that has a longer line, but it needs rebuilt.

Can you post a pic of your bracket mounted up? Thanks

His stock ressy probably wont reach all the way back to the grab bar mounting area. You are gonna have to get a shock ressy clamp to the frame, I asked for mine on here and seen some on ebay too.

That is the best I can do as of rite now, unless I go take some more. That is my LSR baja chassi set up for mx. Send me your email and I will send you some more pics later tomorrow. I run a stock rear shock set up by PEP waith a longer line to mount the ressy bottle up there.

thanks Jamie, but I'm looking for the left side, stock location type pics. I doin't have the loot for an aftermarket rear shock, nor do I really need one. Maybe I can swap some parts from my ohlins and mount it under the tank. I maymachine a bracket out of some poly type hard plastic, It would be easy to do on a manual mill.

That is a stock rear shock with a longer hose to mount it there, you asked for pics and I was showing you bud. SF Racing did my rear shock and did a pep upgrade for like $350.00 and I asked for a longer ressy line.

I do appreciate the pics. I was just wondering how guys are mounting the resi in the stock location. I'll mock it up with my Ohlins and see if that will reach up under the tank.

I'm not sure where it came from, but I have a mount that is similar to brake clamps that have a spot for the reservoir and then clamp onto the round tube of the subframe.

It's not for sale, but it means that there is something like that out there - possibly look in an autoparts store or something.

I did some searching and found a couple different styles. Modquad makes aluminum clamps, and elka offers 1 that uses clamps and 2 rubber pieces.

On both of mine I split some rubber hose to wrap the frame and used hose clamps in the OEM location.

That color is florescent orange and here is a close up of the clamps for the ressy to the frame.
