I'm gonna try the maxima k2 pre mix in my kx250, and I was wondering since its 100% Synthetic. Do I need to mix it 40:1 or anything or stick with the 32:1 that is recommended for the kx250??

i used like 5 types of premix and 4 ran the same, yamaha premix, bellray, maxima k2 premix and honda gn2 premix. the one that stood out was klotz techniplate premix. it ran very noticeably smoother and it made the idol slightly higher and you can definitely feel the performance gain over the others. you'll also love the sweet smell from the castor oil:)

for mixing ratio just keep it simple with like 30:1.

Yea I like the klotz techinplate. Thats what i've been running. I'll see how I like this stuff. If I don't like it im going back to klotz. I guess I'll just keep running 32:1 like the place where I bought it said. Still wondering if it matters if it being 100% Synthetic matters on the ratio???

Koltz benol castor oil is all I would ever run. Its worth the money.

I run techniplate and I also run 40:1, but I run rich. Its more about your jetting than it is about your Mix Ratio.

What he said^^ You jet for your mix ratio. Mix ratio doesnt mean extra protection for some unknown reason. I use to run Bel-Ray but that got a little spendy riding alot with my 125. Plus its more of a back up fun bike anyways. Personally i run Lucas oil mix oil. ITS SWEET! only 8.99 a quart and runs in my bike awesome. 40:1 with sometimes a little extra splash is what i run.

doesn't 40:1 make it a little quicker but slightly less protection?

40:1 is a good choice for people who are intermediate riders, because who really runs wide open all the time??? I know I don't unless i'm at an Arenacross tracks. It does offer a little less protection, but not enough that the average rider would have problems.

My order is coming in friday. I'm gonna fix my 300ex. Simple chain issue. The KX is ready to go. It has a full tank of 32:1 klotz right now, but I got a need plug to put in when I switch to maxima k2, and see the difference between the two. I gonna run 32:1 like the manual says. I'll let u know how mine likes it asap. I got a gallon of some 101 unleaded gas im gonna put alil in it when I mix it up. It makes my 300ex idle higher and more snappy.

Not trying to thread jack, but what do you guys think, does a 158 main in a KX250 sound about right for 40:1 Premix???

There is no way someone can accurately guess what size jets you will need...Why wouldnt you just do a few plug chops untill you get it dialed in? Jetting a 2 stroke is pretty simple if you know what your doing and how it should feel...Goodluck

P.S. Last I checked you don't jet for your pre-mix ratio but hey what do I know :X

I don't have time to do plug chops and no where to do them ( life in the Army ). I don't have much experience with Jetting because most of the quads i've worked on are fuel injected.

P.S. Last I checked your right, but it is a must to make sure your jetting and pre-mix ratio are a perfect math, or you'll get to much un-burnt oil or too little oil. Its common sense... But hey what do i know...

I finally mixed some up. After the engine got to operating temp there was no smoke, and it ran really good.

I ran K2 all last year at the nationals with NO problem.
