Hey, my buddy has a hotcam on his 2004 EX and his valves need adjustment. Anyone know where we can get the specs on what to adjust the valves to? I am assuming it is different from stock. Also, we are not sure what stage he has, so I am looking for both stage one and stage two. He says he knows for sure it isn't a stage three. Thanks for any info.

im pretty sure (dont quote me on this) but the specs for all hotcams is .007 intake .008 exhaust.

Pop the valve cover off, turn the cam until you can see the numbers on the cam (It will be HC-??) then call hotcams and give them the number and ask what stage it is.

I have a hot cams stage 3 and looked for the valve clearance and it was same as stock. But just so you know they do make more ticking noise than the stock cam makes!

thanks guys. I know we adjusted them before to stock specs and it was NOISY! scared my buddy so we tweaked them until they were a little less noisy, but he smokes BAD on start-up...

Sounds like your valve seals are Bad if its smoking on start up.

Im not to sure what damage it can do really but if you leave it along time like that im sure you would do something bad to the engine, Id suggest get it fixed as soon as he can.

Wont really cause any extra damage... But its going to keep getting worse and worse until its fixed.

May as well just start saving up and redo the whole top end when you do it though.

i was looking at an exploded view of the valvetrain, and when you are talking about valve seals, are you referring to the stem seals?
