400ex and 300ex axle compatable?

quick poll for a quick question sorry if this is the wrong forum :). somebody told me it would work and add a few inches just like 250r aarms on the 250x but i dont know about the axle. some say it wont work too. what do YOU think?

Ive asked this question before to a few others cause Im thinking about a new axle to widen for racing, and I was told they will fit,also the A-arms and shocks, and the A-arms would need some small modding done to make them work.

a 250r axle will fit on a 400ex but not on a 300ex and vice versa.

TRY it, i did, it didn't work, when trying too tighten up the axle nut you will find the 400 axle is about 1/2" longer where it goes thru the carrier, not sure if the swingarm is wider, or brake stay is thicker, but it wouldn't tighten up, you could use some type of spacer but i was afraid it wouldn't hold up
