I have a lonestar 2003 frame and was hoping someone could tell me what year(s) crf engine will fit. I see pictures of crf frames in which the bottom left motor mount is moved. I do not want to move mine. I just want to find the correct range of year crf engine that will fit.
Any help would be apreciated, thanks

02 or 03 motor for sure, I believe in 04 the cases changed some. They became wider in some spots(where on the 02/03 dirtbike, there was spacers), thus no need for spacers. 02/03 shows a spacer on the bottom front mount, where 04 doesn't.

Anyone else have experience with the 03 lonestar frame?

I appreciate the offer. I may be asking you some questions....if you ever take the engine out i am also in need of the dimensions of the spacers in the rear swingarm. I will most likly have to make some myself if i pick up a crf engine.

I have my bike apart for powder coat now. I can get you some measurements on the swinger spacer tomorrow when I go to work. My bike has a 04 CRF

Thanks Groves
That would be great. I am not even sure what any of the spacers look like. I got into the crf frames for a hybrid (non crf) that i was building. I started collecting hybrid parts, but for some reason when people start parting out their hybrids they never include the spacers for some reason.

Does the rear swing arm setup also require a longer pivot colar (the thing that rides inside the needle bearing) for one of the sides? If so does lonestar sell the kit?

Thanks

You said you have an 04 crf engine, what year is the frame? Trying to fiure out if i can run the 04 crf engine in the 03 crf frame.
I looked at the 02-04 crf bikes online, it seems that they all run a spacer on the lower bottom motor mount. The 05 crf has no spacer. So i am assuming that the cases on the 05 crf are wider for the botom motor mount.

In other words i have an 03 frame and do not want to pick up the wrong engine which would make me have to move the bottom motor mount. I just need to know for if i could use an 02-04 crf engine in this 03 lonestar frame.

according to service honda's fiche, 04 doesn't use this spacer. Yes, it is on the diagram, but not in the item list. It is item #11. 02/03 show it on the list of parts. 04 shows it on the diagram, but not the list of parts. I had a frame made to accept any year(except fuel injected) crf450r motor. There is one set of motor mounts, but some different collars that weren't needed. so those would be for a 02/03 motor. I gave the guy a blown 03 motor and I bought a 05 motor. The chassis was built to use either motor. When I have my lsr crf chassis powdercoated, this will get done also.

The tube that runs threw the needle bearings are different from one side to the other, I don't know for sure what year my frame is but pretty sure they dont make a different frame for the other year motors.

I just measured the bottom motor mount width, between the mounts is.... 3 9/16 for this 03 frame. If anyone could measure their frames and let me know the year of the frame and the year of the motor... that would be great.
I have definately seen this mount moved on some of these crf frames. I am only assuming that is because of the different year motors. The mystery continues. So far 02-03 is the only motor that will work, i think.

Thanks Deathman for pionting out the parts list for the 04 motor.

I will bring my calipers home tomorrow and measure my 04 motor, my frame is at sand blast and should have it back this week.
