450r carb high idle?

i used to have a 450r and when the choke was on, it'd idle alot higher lettin it warm up quicker. if a man puts a 450r carb on a 400ex, with the choke still there, will it have the same effect? my 400 is a real pain in the arse to get to idle especially with this cold weather... plus the former owner ruined the idle adjustment part on the carb so i have to adjust my idle up on the throttle block then put it back once its warmed up and i ride it.

I have a 04 trx450r carb on my 400 and it does kick up on high idle when the choke is on.

I use the choke on my 450r carb everytime i start my ex. It works great! But you'll have to take off the stock yellow choke lever, or mod it. I left mine on at first and it wore a whole in my fuel line. I just been using a pair of long needle nose pilers to set the choke. I want to make some kind of custom lever.

Yes it will have the high idle with the choke on but first you have to rig it up so that you can use the choke which isn't very ez and thats the reason I can't use my 450r choke (cuz i can't cold start it) and the jeting isn't to ez to get figured out on it.

I have the 04-05 450r carb on my 400ex and it idles pretty high and the choke is still there, but it can't be used. It takes about 5-6 minutes to get started and warmed up on a cold day. But then when it is warmed up and you shut it off, it'll start like in a millisecond when you push in the button.

^^ Very true I just can't get mine to start when its really cold if I can't use the choke

My ex was alway hard to cold start too with stock carb. Choke or no choke. But now with r carb, it starts great no matter how cold with I use the choke. It kind a hassle tho cause I have to take the seat off to set the choke with the pliers. But it works

i have the 06 450er carb on mine.I had to mill the top of the carb off for tank clearance cuz i wanted plastic to line up.anyway i lost my idle adjustment in the process but the cable adjuster at the thumb throttle works as good.mine is still cold blooded at times.typical honda:)
