idk, I have ran a K&N in all my bikes and never had a problem, I know i coated my uni with oil before i went out last week when i got back it was soaked and just a mess i put a outerwear on my k&n and it runs nice and deflects all the water better than oil does...

I've ran my K&N for 60 hours without cleaning it althogh I woundn't recommend it. I cleaned it and checked for dust and chit in the intake boot but it was very clean.

i use to hate on K&N and only stuck to foam filters, but i my 450 came with one AND and outerware which i think really helps. its worked well in the dunes/trails for me.

If you do run a K@N filter, Never run it without the outerwears on it. If you run a K@N without the outerwears, Next time you take your carb apart you will find little grains of sand/dirt in it.

In my opinion Foam filters are the way to go because to me they are easier to maintain than the K@N filters and a lot cheaper.

Dont get me wrong the k&n is a great filter they have years of research behind them and a lot of backing! They are a great product. You need to find out what you like! I only use foam beacuse when my little brother started racing dirt bikes when he was 6 (about 15 years ago) thats all they had. I have used the k&n with outerwear and didnt like it ! I have a 400ex with a cfm air box its a tight fit but it fits and I feel that it runs even better with the foam and I feel safer with the foam filter! So what Im saying if you can try both see how you like them and stick with what you like and feel safe running!

Im a foam filter fan.

I have always ran foam filters, UNI mostly, just because Dawn dish soap and a good cleaning every couple rides and your filter never goes bad.

I ran a K&N for a while on my old honda and it worked fine.

Unless your stock one is just bad... I wouldnt buy any. Stock filters arent that bad ya know... Its about like the header of a 400ex.. everyone wants to buy a special one, when really there isnt any need to change it unless your stock filter is dry rotted.

GT Thunder said they use stock filters alot in thier race quads just because there isnt really any benefit going from a stock foam filter, to a aftermarket foam filter. They both do the same thing, just UNI, Moose, Twin air, etc.. is like tripple layered for a little extra protection.
