Is belray 10-40 4T ok to put in a kx250 2 stroke. The shop I bought it from said thats all he has ever used in his 2 strokes.

That's definitely 4 stroke oil. Just but regular 2 cycle oil

I assume you are talking about clutch oil. I've always used Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80w in my 2 strokes.

Yeah, I use that also.....I don't know if the 10-40 4T would hurt anything, but I prefer to stick with an oil designed for 2 stroke clutch and transmissions

It will be just fine. You have to understand that it is designed to be used in a four stroke engine, that most of the time lubricates the clutch and transmission too. I normally use Honda HP Trans for my KTM and clutch side on my CRF, but have used 10W-40 with no problems. As long as you don't use an oil that has friction modifiers, you will be fine. Also, don't be afraid to use Shell Rotella for your transmission. Cheap oil that works great, and Recluse recommends it for their clutches. Just use a high quality oil, fill it to the manuals specs, and change it often. You might also want to invest in a magnetic oil drain plug. Moose Racing sells them, and they are a great investment.

lol I know about pre-mix in a 2 stroke and all that. I was talking about for the clutch and transmission.
