hey guys:
i will be getting a 96 laeger that was made to accept an atc350x motor. my question is what are my other options. yes i know most likely anything can be made to fit. what will fit without major frame work. sticking with honda motors.
400ex, trx450r/er, crf450, xr/xl 600's or 650's.

i'm asuming 250x or 300ex motors are just a drop in.

thanks

One issue with running a crf/or xr650 etc.. it going to be the intake. Being that the frame you have uses a stock link shock. You will run into problems with clearance. the best alternative is to move the shock mount. Then your opening up cans of worms all over after that. Just something to think about. If your going to use those types of motors you are better off to start with a cr500 rear or no link.

looks like u have a shock mount real high up to so u can use that and go no link just have to make the swingarm shock mount lower on swinger

2 stroke would be easy cause u wont have to cut swinger but any crf 450 will require upper frame mods and swing arm cutting

Hey Joe, I never even thought to think you would go pick that up.

I was pretty interested in it, but I already have one.

I just converted my frame which I believe was built for the 350X then chopped up and converted to a YZ426, then re-converted to what I have.

I'll try to get some pics but you have to decide if you absolutely do not want the air cooled motor in there like the 350X or 250X because for any other motor to get in there you will need to lose that middle brace.

If you want me to call you or if you still have my number - give me a ring and we can discuss.

thanks for the replies guys. i am really leaning toward putting in a 350x. what sucks is that about 5 years ago i had (3) 350x's. one was stolen and i sold the other 2. how i loved those bikes.

kevin:
this was a spur of the moment purchase. i need another project like i need a hole in the head but i couldn't pass it up for the price and the fact it was local (30 minutes away). plus its a Laeger.
it also helps that i have enought spare parts to make it a roller.
the build just might have to sit for a while. i'll email you in a day or two
