I'm going to get a Ram 1500 4x4 regular cab. I don't know if i should get a long bed or a short bed. I really don't think i will be hauling much stuff in the bed but the price difference is like 300 bucks.

What is your preference?

We have an 03 4x4 Ram Quadcab w/ a short bed on it. It still has alot of room in it all things considering. I would prefer a shorter bed just b/c the truck isnt a mile long and it looks better. But thats just me. :)

I would go for the long bed because you can fit a quad and all of your dirty gear in the back so you dont have to put it in your cab....and you can put a tool box behind the window and still have room for your quad....

Id probably get a long bed because of the regular cab. But if it was extended cab id get a short bed. I dont like trucks that are really long or real short.

Short bed's look little better but when you need the room you need the room. I bought a long bed and dont regret it at all. I had a short bed ranger before but that was just too small in general. I feel if your buying a truck to haul stuff get the long bed and if you want one for a car get the short bed.

I got a F-150 4x4 short bed and I love it:macho
I've only owned one long bed and that was enough. Never hauled enough to fill it up.

I agree with j37, if you are going with an extended cab get the short bed, if you are getting a regular cab, get the long bed. Overall length will be about the same.

i would def. get a short bed, long beds are sooooooo ugly. I have a 99 Silverado Single Cab short bed, and i can fit my quad, riding gear, loading ramps and gas cans in the back with out problems.

Make sure you get the extended cab. Not having that will be your biggest regret.

But the only reason to get a long bed is if you plan on hauling like drywall or plywood that is 8'. Obvioulsly you can carry it in the 6' bed, but its much easier to do it in the 8'. But if your not using your truck to carry alot of long things, get the shorter truck. Besides its easier to park because its shorter.

There is no better truck than a 4 door, 4x4, short bed, 6.0L. Its a must for traveling and hauling. This is my choice.

ok here is what i think if you dont have the xcab then get the long bed and get one of those tool box things so you can keep your gear dry and have a place to store it. but if you have a long cab get the short bed cause you dont really need the extra space and long trucks are just hidious imho

That is one nice machine. Looked at it during the Chicago Auto show for my son. Only one complaint, not big enough to tow a big trailer. Other than that, nice choice.

I was bummed to find out you could only get the inline 5 motor. I was thinking they would at least offer the 270hp inline 6 that they use in the Trailblazer, but the inline 5 has 220hp..... I think, so that will work for me. They also went back to drum brakes on the rear.....don't know what they are thinking. I love the 4 wheel disc on my ZR2. I still have original pads with 45,000 miles on it.

I agree, disc are hard to beat. I've got them on my truck as well and really like them. Helps stop the trailer as well, without having to really cram on the brakes to stop.
Sometimes I think Chevy goes backwards just to help out the aftermarket companies. Because to can purchase aftermarket disc assemblies for around $600. I really don't think that's why, but it sure seems like it sometimes.
You know, the inline 5 with the right gearing, might pull a 6x12 enclosed with two quads just fine. Maybe?

The inline 5 will be o.k. for me. I only have a single quad trailer and most of the time I just throw mine in the bed of the truck. Another thing I wish they would have done with the new Colorada quad cab is had a 6 foot bed option. The bed is only 5 feet. The extended cab has a 6 foot though. I'm not sure what one I'm gonna get. I did get to check it out at the Cleveland auto show this last weekend, but you could not sit in it or anything..I was a little bummed.
