View Full Version : any way to tell what cam

is there anyway to tell what cam is in the motor with out taring everything apart( no money to buy gaskets) , the reason i ask is because my quad has a 416ex but im not sure on the cam and id like to adjust the valves

Just pop the valve cover off... Odds are you wont need to replace the gasket. If you take it off and you do, then silicone.

If you do silicone ANYTHING on the engines... Get a small drill bit, smaller than the 8mm bolts, and spin it lightly (not touching the threads) into each hole to get all the silicone out. Because if silicone gets packed in the bottom of the holes, then when you go to tighten down the bolts it will bust the engine cases since there is no where for the silicone to go.

yeah thats what i was thinking , thanks for the reply im pretty sure i have a hot cam or similar cause this thing hauls *** for being just a 416 unless i have a higher comp piston or something . i got the quad with it being a 416 already from a friend but i doubt he built it
