Doug Gust's 2000 Team Nacs Re Build Freshen Up

Hey Guys Last Year I purchased Doug Gusts 2000 season TT bike from Nacs Racing I have been wanting to Restore it back to the way it looked when Doug raced it .
This bike is a 1 off Chassis and suspension Built and designed by Mark Laeger and Wayne Hinson for Doug Gust after he won the Grand National Championship in 99 . He flew the #1 proudly in his 2000 season aboard this machine .
This is a super Narrow frame design (much Narrower than a narrow)
CR500 link rear with Hinson Fully adjustable a arms

Hey Alan, I got your pm but your pm box was full. lol Thank you so much for posting this. It makes me want to change my mind on my next Leager build. haha I love it!! Im glad you sent me those pics because when you first said that you bought Dougs old leager I thought you were wrong. I had remembered it being an old JP. But now I see it was for sure a leager. If memory serves me right Mark worked for JP many years ago before going on his own. It looks like he used Ideas from both brands. Truely a GREAT find!!!Again thanks for sharing!

P.S. I havent forgot you on those pics, Ill dig them up and send them to you.

Thanks Dustin , Yes Mark did work for JP and I would agree on this bike he used the best of both worlds to make it truely unique.

I only wish I could figure out how to make these pics a normal size now LOL

Subscribed as well. I actually prefer the pictures to be oversized they way they are. You can see everyting in much more detail. Can't wait to see how this one turns out. Good luck with restoring it back to when it was originally.

Is that 1 inch narrower then a standard Laeger's narrow? How similar to say a Roll Lobo are those a arm mount measurements? Truly unique and cool, thank you for shearing.

I am going to use the fenders that came on it , there in real good shape I just need to get some blue nacs backgrounds and some big fat # 1's for them

And if you are able to get some numberplates from them, bring them to a graphics/vinyl decals place and show them the pics with the #1 s you want. Nice build so far, I'm very jealous. Danny called me last year or the year before and asked if I wanted to buy it but I just didn't have the funds. Just a little info for you though I don't know where 171 is from, Danny's number is 621. If I remember correctly, which there is a good chance I don't, 171 had something to do with Darren. Good luck with the build, should turn out awesome, post lots of pics!

When I was racing my r, I used to go to nacs and think that was the sickest thing ever. It had a carbon fiber stator case at the time and I thought that was the coolest. Cool build dude, glad to see it being taken care of.

SWEET Build!!! I'm loving it. Looks like you have every part that Nacs made for this bike. You got lucky and bought it all at once!!! I wish I could have been so fortunate when I was looking! I think that I have almost all the Nac's parts now though, aside from the rear brake guard that I had done in Carbon fiber!! Sick build!!! Looks like all you need is some plastics and that beauty will be ready to race!!

Last I heard he had worked for some car teams and got brain cancer but after having sergery was doing well.

He lived in Goodletsville Tn and I would see the Nacs truck and trailer drive by my work and wondered who it was. He was a good flat track racer himself. The last time I saw him was the time he grabbed Josh and got in his face on the track during a race at Lorettas.

The first 87 trx 250r bike that I bought had a Blue Nac's seat cover and graphics kit plus a few other billet parts. At the time I had never heard of Nacs, but I thought that the graphics looked sick and I've always liked polishing up billet parts to make them look like chrome. So after seeing this thread I think its Awesome to see what things looked like back in the day!!! I'd never seen a completely set-up Nac's race bike, with a Laeger frame. So I'm loving it, It makes me wanna do a Laeger build in Yellow to match the Yellow Nacs seat cover I bought from a guy on here. He basically gave it to me, but I was able to salvage it and it looks almost like new!!!! Thanks to who ever sold it to me, I forget? Sorry for kinda highjacking the thread, read on!
I lovin this bike completely setup like this!! It looks SICK and I bet its a hellva ride, if you can hold on!! Sweet job on the build and awesome Pics you took of it as well. I have a hard tme getting good Pics sometimes? Great Job and I loved the little history lesson I gained after reading threw the thread!
