We race mx on a built drr 70. Mach 1 engine, DC long travel.... We are currently running the dwt 18x7x8 rear tires. It has been suggested that we run a wider rear tire and we are looking at the Maxxis 940 18x9x8 and the ITP quadcross 18x8x8. The 940 is lighter but look "bouncy" to me. ITP looks good also but heavy. I am looking for input on this.....I know a bunch of people have run both.

Also wondering if anyone has any experience with Silvertec rims?

Thanks

Been wondering the same thing. Also what size rims your running each on?

We are running 8x6 with the DWT and our friends are running 8x6 rims with the ITP and the other is running a 8x8 with the 940.

I actually did timed laps and timed holeshots with each. the one I went with was faster hands down every holeshot and every lap. but this was on a stock drr 50.

I bet that 99% of the races won in the 90cvt, 90 Auto, and maybe 70cvt at the ATVA Nationals this passed year, the quads had M940's. They are a little bouncey because the sidewall is thin. They need to be on a full sized rim (8x8).

i was having the same debate, but i found good deals on some 8x8 beadlocks so i went with the maxxis 940's . Due to the fact that they are considered a 9" wide tire. We havnt got to run them on either of the Pitsters because we are still waiting on our motors but shouldnt be long now.
My question for desratt is what tire ran the best?

We ran 940's with polini 50 cvt and won every holeshot with them in 2010,however our Hetrick 50 ran real strong and we clutched it to pull those big tires.

940's are definitely awesome tires for traction and weight no doubt they just bounce too much for us, many others love them and win holeshots and races with them I just don't like the way they bounce on our quads.

So what tires do you prefer?

If they discontinue the M940 tire then Yamaha will have to change the tires on the rappy 125

What air pressure are you guys running in the 940's? Talked to a guy that runs a pro am 450 and he said 12 psi in fronts and 8 psi in rears. Seems a little excessive.
Firepower has shipped both motors hope to have them both running soon. Ill post what the little mans thoughts are about the 940's.
