I went to change my bearings on my 400ex on the rear in the bearing carrier. I ordered my stuff from powersports pro and i took it all apart tonight and my new bearings are about half the size width wise to my old ones. All the diameters are the same but just the width. Not sure what is going on could it be a different carrier or what? I have the number of the bearings that came out of them and they are 408d49du if that rings a bell to anyone being different. Please help, ill appreciate not sure what to do.

Is your bearing carrier a stock or aftermarket unit? An aftermarket one will just have holes with which to adjust it and is obviously nicer looking, a stock unit has LARGE slots that you could fit a huge flathead into and is of course crappy looking.

To me it sounds as if you have an aftermarket carrier, which probably takes dual row bearings. Im almost positive bearings for a chevy 350 ac compressor are the right ones. Such as these: http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,carcode,1353350,parttype,6548,d,1999_CHEVROLET_K 2500_PICKUP_5.7L_350_cubic_inch_V8_FI_R_OHV_A-C_Compressor_Bearing.html Note the bearing number. Finding seals is a bit harder but you can usually find them on ebay, the measurements are on there. Or you could just look for "400ex dual row axle bearings" and it will come up on ebay or buy these (really good price) http://www.radmfg.com/ABS-2-Bearing-Seal-Kit-Double-p/abs-2.htm

Thanks man that really helps now that you say it, its about twice that width and the kit comes with the bearings and seals for around 40 bucks on this site http://www.radmfg.com/ABS-2-Bearing...ble-p/abs-2.htm is that all i would need for this aftermarket carrier or is there more seals and all on it?

Whatever comes in that kit should be it.

The seals and bearings can also be gotten at a industrial bearing and seal supply. If you have the seal and bearing numbers they can cross reference and get them. I've done it several times. Also have taken them with me and let them mic. the OD&ID and they hook me up.
