OMG, i heard if you take the disks out and put em back in and just take the screwes out alot it will mess the whole deal up......just get a big gun race with a quite core or an fmf q,,,,,,or a yoshimura, there not real loud

white brothers makes a quiet core insert that reduces sound levels by 5 db. Also, the less disks you use the more restrictive and quiter the exhaust is. You would want to ADD disks at the track. More disks isnt always more power though.

O well then im not gettin it i know LRD is kinda loud but if i save enough money fast enough im going to get it. The 416 kit on murcums for 150 or somethin does that come with the iston or just the boring and gasket.

Any engine builder company's exhuast pipes are all loud LRD, TC, Curtis Sparks,......etc. A more quieter pipe would be something like a white bros or fmf.

Get the FMF powercore 4Q that is what I have it has what I think is a throaty sound without being overly loud.

NACS400EX, I'm in the same boat! I asked myself, "Why not keep the stock pipe?" The stock is great for around sensitive riding areas, but noise is not an issue at race tracks, and the power gain is there for the aftermarket exhausts.

They have this new thing out called "dial-a-jet" for your carburetor, I was wondering/thinking if I got that, I may be able to swap stock exhaust system to a aftermarket system for the race track, and swap back to stock where noise is an issue. I'm still thinking:huh

A Quiet aftermarket exhaust, Is there such a thing?

They are all loud enough to make the neighbors mad.

Unfortunately with the 4 strokes it seems that more sound = more power. I am very sensitive about sound. I am curious about the FMF PC4Q... but until I see one and hear one, I'll be modifying my stock muffler. Other folks here have done it and are making some good power with it. It didn't sound very loud in the video I saw...???

One pipe I was very impressed with was the DMC Alien. I saw it at Little Sahara and it was fairly quiet. Who'dah thought??? Much more so than the regular DMC! I guess its the unequal length header pipes on the Alien as well as the first mixing chamber. That one is out for me also. 2 reasons. No spark arrestor and I just ceramic coated my header pipe!:( :)

400EXDAD :
By the way the Q is only 5 decibles more than the stock and i think the exust mod you want to but on it is just as loud.

he said ceramic not chrome..if your really concerned about sound, you cant get any aftermarket pipe

Your going to get the TC? I thought you wanted a quieter pipe. The TC will be louder. Have you ordered the a-arms, shocks, and the other stuff yet?

You know what i mean so shut up. I really dont care anymore about a quiet pipe cause they really dont make a good one. Im just gonna get the tc and put the disks on it for riding at my house then when i ht the track i will put the open end cap.

NACS400EX

There is a pic of it in the thread "case polishing", probably on page 2, its not very old. It cost about $120 to get the header coated and shipped from JettHott and I think about $30 to get the heat shield chromed. I really like the coating.. no more rust or mud stains!!! Hopefully it flows better too since its coated inside and out.

I just got rid of my FMF MegaMax2 for my old 300. I'll never have the plate system again. I really don't care for the mud, but in the Flat River GP in 2000, it was pouring down rain..... and it got MUDDY! The plates got so covered with mud, it started to overheat! Of course, it does allow you to vary the dB's and tune the pipe....

12-10-2001, 07:46 AM
Get the complete FMF system like me,,,not too loud but not quiet either,,,your almost in a no win situation when it comes to aftermarket pipes but not loud pipes.....I do Know one thing,,I seen that new FMF titanium in the new ATV sport,,,and I think I'm gonna order one of them instead of the bills pipe,,probably real soon,,since I'm a FMF fan and all. It looks like the same design as the WB r4, bills thunder, hetrick, and a few others,,for $200 I'll give her a try,,but I know it's gonna be louder than the powercore IV/2,,,,OH well..it should rip tits with the new 416 kit..:D

I know this was at the beginning of the thread but sparks is making a core for their pipe. I thought about getting it but you have to drill out the rivets to put it in and then you would have to do the same to take it out. That would be a pain in the a*s to take in and out...so i said forget about it. If they neighbors call the cops on me big deal

The TC is different from a normal Supertrapp. I`m not sure what Tom does to the pipe, but it`s alot different. In the ATV Sport pipe shootout they said it sounded and looked nothing like a Supertrapp.

do what i do. just put ur stock silencer on when u ride around ur house & when u go to race, b4 u leave, bust out the ratchet & sockets & take the stock 1 off & put ur loud pipe on. Of course though, it does take me a little bit more time, but not much, i my pipes both have their own headers so i swap the whole deal when i change.
