Look at parts fiche and check each year and the crank part number. Did you buy it used? Not sure but could it be a crank for a WR250

I looked on Bike Bandit and it looks like they changed cranks in 2001. The 1999,2000 cranks were the same but the number changed in 2001. Don't know how they changed they just had a different part number. Hope this helps.

Post back on what you find out. On my 400ex from 04 to 05 they made changes you wouldn't expect.

There should be a serial number on the case or the frame that should give some info. Unless someone has changed the motors.

Wish we could help ya more, but it sounds to me like you're mix and matching parts anyway. Why not just buy all the stuff that is known to be 01? Don't get mad, just askin.

no bro your kool... i bought the bike from some guy and it came with a new crank i put it all together to find the fly wheel didnt fit... the bike is a 01... the motor is a 09... and i still have no idea about the crank lol... i would just buy a new crank but id have to split the case again.. if i have to i will but its easier to buy a new flywheel if i can find out the year of the crank... what i think happen is you see on ebay "yz crank fits 99-09" and thats not really true... i only payed 600 for everything... and the motor is 80% new parts so im not doing to bad on this one..

There should be some serial numbers on the half case. Mic the diameter of the crank and also the depth of the position of the flywheel on the crank. Call or go to a dealer and tell them the dimensions and numbers they should be able to help you. I know that Yamaha still make 2 strokes in limited quantities so you should be able to get one.

Now I see what you're up against. I don't blame you for not wanting to buy another crank. I'd keep searching. Someone out there will know what year they changed.
