I'M running +3 LT front arms now, and they worked good for MX but they aren't cutting it for XC. Whats the perfeet width for the woods, all our races are cut for 50" maximum. I'm looking at a set of +1 or +2 MGC arms. I don't want to be too narrow. I'm also running Douglas Shamrock beadlock fronts which seem to be 1/2" narrower then my 4:1 rims... Any insight?

I'm building a XC R using +1 LT arms with 3+2 DWT G2 beadlock wheels, the width is about 47" at ride height. I set the rear at 46.5" with razr XC tires all around. Hopefully this will be a pretty good setup through the woods.

I was thinking 47 would be a good number. Cause I still want to hit a MX track from time to time.

I run 46" front width and it seems about perfect. For tight woods 44 is nice.

46" is considered the std width now for GNCC and most series. However, some of our locals are a lot more tight and technical.

Pretty sure my +1 with 4/1 inset put me at 46...I can measure later tonight tho.

Ok thanks, Im just worried that the +1s will be too narrow. I dont want my nerfs sticking out past the tires either

Measure your nerfs and set it up based off that.

I have mine setup at 46.5 with 3/2's and an RPM XC Axle. My nerfs are about the same width as the the front tires. If i cant make it through tree's, ect with my front tires, i know i cant make it at all. I can also go with 4/1's, shorten the axle and be at 45.5, but my nerfs stick out.

My .02's used to be 45-46" but todays tracks I think you can get by with 47" especially GNCC's

This thread is a wealth of knowledge for a XC 250R. On page 6 Andy says he ran the width at 48" for most tracks.

I ran +1s on my woods bike and i absolutly loved it! i could zip through the trees at a good pace and made it through some pretty tight fits. however my pro pegs stuck out just a hair farther but never posed a problem for me. Ive ran +3s and they were great for duning, but sucked in the woods i couldnt fit anywhere! now i run +2s its a happy medium. if i were strickly hitting the woods id roll the +1s for sure.

Suggestion: get +2 arms and two different offset front wheels. For XC you'll have 4:1 offset to bring you back to +1 width. That will be nice and narrow for the woods and less bump-steer feedback. For MX you'll bolt up 3:2 offset wheels to maintain your +2 width.

The 4:1 wheels will have 21-22" GNCC tires for better ground clearance and your 3:2 wheels will have 20" MX tires to lower your center of mass for turning stability. Same idea for the rear, or simply adjust your axle.

Well I did some measuring, I'm right at 49.5 with my +3s and Douglas shamrock wheels, I measured it and took away 2" per side and it would be 44.5 with the +1s. Alittle to narrow for me. Talked to Jd performance and they base their measurements off a stock rim. So withe the +2s and the rims I have would set me right at 46-46.5. So I'm going to order a set of Jd performance +2 mgc arms...
