I really have the fever! This forum is really breaking me up. I see other peoples builds and it makes me want to do some.

This ATC is going to be VERY low budget! I litterally have nothing in this thing at all because of some lucky trades. The only money I will have to spend is on plastic and tank and a few other small odds and ends.

The frame is ready to go now!

Leager swingarm I had laying around that I couldnt sell on here so I just figgured I would throw it on here.

A few parts for it PEP rear ZPS shock and some nice zink plated parts that are left over from SUPERMAN!

you are aware that you need to weld in back motor mounts to the frame and that swingarm is probably -1 from the stock swingarm, as its probably a 88/89 length. It will make a wheelie happy bike, even worse.

You are 100percent right! I did plan on getting the mounts welded in but forgot to before I got it painted. It will be ok with the other 3 mounts as I'm not going to hardly ever ride this one. It will be more of a conversation piece than anything else.lol
The swing arm is a 88/89 and again it's ok for the same reasons. Good eye though!!

I know alot about them and I ride them. Mine is getting inverted forks w/ billet triples. I have some parts to help you out. PM me for more about it.

Very cool Dustin. I've always kicked myself for trading off my 85 ATC, for a 87 TRX. :(

So I did a little work last night. I want this to be a really cheap build so I opted to rattle can it and man Im starting to regret it. Its like the paint just dont wont to dry so its very fragile! Im going to put a propane heater beside it for some time in hopes that it will help somewhat cure the paint! If that dont work I dont know what I will do because I want to save my money for the Leagers.lol I am happy with the way it is looking. Also I think Im going to put the stock rear shock on because the pep rezi is not easy to find placement and I hate to waste the shock on something thats not going to get ridden that much.

I have the same type of shock on mine, I put the rezi on the subframe. Did you have to space the top shock mount? On mine I have a 86 trx250r elka shock and had to put a few thick washers to fill in the space.

So I made some real progress today on my lunch break! I changed to the stk shock, installed the airbox and acid washed alot of parts to get them ready for paint tonight. Amazingly all the parts are cleaning up really nice. I dont think this thing has been abused I just think they didnt know how to take care of it! This ATC is fun!!!

Thanks for your advice and offering me help DEATHMAN53 I will be pming you!

I noticed one of my forks leaking a little around the seal so I would love to change the seals and oil. If anyone could help me find the seals and tell me how to do it myself I would appreciate it!!

Dustin
I rebuilt mine last summer, I just got online and ordered from Troy Honda. They have a microfische and you can see what you will need , wipers, seals. (as long as your brass is in good shape) If you have a book it will walk you through it. It is a very very simple process. You just have a few circlips to deal with. If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.
BTW the valve on top is not for nitrogen it is strickly a way to let air out thats it.
Good Luck!
Robbie

Done a little more work this weekend! Didnt want to paint the axle but it was so rusted that I just sanded it and painted it! I accually ike it, the zink plated hubs and break hub work well with it.,

Looks good. This thread is inspiring me to get a ATC250R! Last summer I decided my next big project was going to be a TPC Trikes 3 wheeler. After looking to see what that would cost me, decided a month or two ago I would be better off (aka alot less money!) to just find a decent used 86 ATC250R. Just need to find a good one near by!

Looks great Dustin, but you should go old school and find the really small rear tires that they use to run back in the day..if you know what I'm talking about.

I bet you're talking about those Ohtsu H-track tires. Those were the thing before the Hoosier TriTrac's if I remember correctly.

I had the cheaper Carlisle Super Turf? with the Z-tread on my 200X.

Looks good with the tt tires.

Looks good. Find some 18x9.5x8 non agressive tires to unhook that sucker and you will have a blast. Too bad you couldn't find a +2ish swinger at a smoking low budget deal. Maybe a trade with someone???

OK so now the build is going to slow down a bit. I still have several parts that I need to pick up for it and I just got my Leager chassis back from the coater.I want to go ahead and get it started so the ATC will have to wait.

Things needed to finish this build:
All plastic
Seat cover
Front tire
Tank
Chain
Stk clutch cover
85/86 stator

If anybody has any of this stuff very reasonable let me know! Basically this stuff will be the only cost that I will have in this whole build so Im trying to keep it cheap!!

I believe your trying to do this build with limited money being spent but damn if you could swing new white maier everything and a black seat this thing would look absolutely amazing. Thats my opinion anyways. You should stick that 4 wheeler build in the corner and finish this lol i love seeing the old trikes be built.

I have an ATC project waiting for me but I'm going to wait awhile to do it. Probably end up a trailer queen too as riding them around me isn't too possible. But I will post the build when I do. I also have priced out a TPC trike as well but I need to really find a CRF and TRX super cheap then maybe I can make it a reality. I Almost want to get a TPC frame just to have it and push the build along.
