ok so the other day i was browsing on youtube and i cam across this video a kid had put a turbo on his 400ex, dont know what size but it looked to be legit. He takes and drags it against modded 450's and they dont touch him.My question is how reliable could this be in the trails on a tracks whatever you would use it for....let me know what you think about this not tht i want to do it just want some expert advice on it here is the link

I've got a old magazine on the turbo kits for the EX an Raptor...Raptor got like +80 hp an think the EX got over 60 hp. So they are legit but $$$. With all the plumming an stuff I don't know how they would do on tracks....these units were just dragging out on smooth sand.

Them suckers are fast when they are turbocharged but it's probably 10x more maintainence.

I actually had a turbo 400ex project, I was close to finished but lost intrest and changed back one day for a race, now Im building a hybrid.

Turbo can be done fairly cheap, you could learn from my mistakes if you wanna take over the project

90% of the time, it's not going to be worth it at all. Turbos need to spool up to be effective, and you need lots of space to utilize it. Basically drag racing on tracks longer then the standard 300', and maybe in the big dunes like Glamis are the only times I would want one. In my opinion there's just a lot of other ways that are cheaper in the long run and much simpler overall, that would get you the results you want from a turbo. Especially with an EX, since there's not much of a point in having one for the purpose of speed these days with all the other faster bikes out there

This is very much true and actually sums it up nicely:D

Like 400exshop said also, If your gonna spend the time and money for a turbo, you could put a large size NOS tank setup on there and run it all day long.
