I have seen this debated here before but I'm looking at a set of Walsh longbody arms off a Walsh chassis with adjustable shock mounts. Will these work on a stock geometry (arens) frame? I think I read somewhere that long travel arms on those Walsh frames require 21" shocks. But this gentleman I'm getting them from says he used 19" shocks, so I'm wondering If they had some variations for the same arms. I talked to someone at Walsh and he said they would work and were all the same but I just need to make sure. I will post a pic and see what you think..

THESE ARE THE NEW ONES HE'S USING NOW, BUT WITH DIFFERENT SHOCKS. NOT SURE ON THEIR LENGTH.

hartwill, if you use the arms he is selling you would run a stock travel shock. He will now be running the longer shock.

In a nut shell, the upper shock mount is higher then a stock geo frame on the walsh. This allowed them to run the LT shock without loosing ground clearance. Hope this helps.. trx/lt500 has my old set maybe you can beg... haha.

As I know there are 4 types of walsh arms for an R
2 sets of Flatties, when looking from the front nothing hangs down limiting g.c. (his new ones are the flatties)

2 sets of what I call Long bodies, where the center support drops lower then the arms plane. Like his black ones, but they offer two different shock locations. Long travel for a stock frame, long travel for a walsh frame. When you start to mis and match stock lt frame arms with walsh frame is when the shocks get really long. Example: jrspawn had walsh with Gibson LT required 21" I think

Don't throw me under the bus if I'm not 100% but this should be close

(early model flatties)
The newer ones you posted would be the late model

(late model LT for stock geo frame) long body

The black arms, would be std travel on a stock frame.

I talked to Walsh and he verified exactly what you said. Now I didn't ask him this out of respect , but say I bought these and relocated that shock Mount 1" lower on the arms and cut away some of the top material, would this effectively allow me to run the 19" shocks on a standard style frame? Just a thought since in reality they probably just have more material on that shock mount to raise the shock mount 1" for their 1" higher frame shock mount .. hope that made sense..

Won't work. I had a set of these arms and a full Walsh frame, they are designed for the Walsh frame which has adjustable top front shock mounts. You will need more then one inch to run 19 inch long body shocks.

That's on a 300ex they run these on the nd quads so the can run long travel shocks. I seen one in a you tube video on that wWalker Fowler kids bike that's what made me look.

Yup that just looks to be a bracket that does what walsh frames do which is provide adjustment at the top of the shock so you can adjust ride height and other things without changing the shock length and such...
