i remember a while ago a friend had a little 80cc dirtbike and he was way to big for it, the thing would squat way down when he sat on it but anyways.... my other friend and i were on his 300ex and we raced the kid on the dirtbike and he beat us and we couldnt keep up with him...... is this normal..... i mean are dirtbikes really that fast..... even little 80's????

Yes they are crazy fast to be so little.

yes there are a few resons that happens 1. cause dirtbikes weigh much less than quads2.they only have to churn 2 wheels where a quad has to churn 4.
3.dirtbikes are 2 stroke not 4 stroke so you dont need a big engine to go as fast 4.dirtbike engines arent as "detuned" as quads so you wont get hurt by them as bad if you wreck dirtbikes since they are harder to ride they dont do that cause they think that people will be bale to ride dirtbikes for some odd reason.........

so pretty much all the 80cc dirtbikes on the market can beat a 300ex??.... and what was that 125cc dirtbike that yamaha sold last year that was less than 3,000 bucks??....if u know what im talking about can u answer why it was so much cheaper than the YZ series??

the 125 that yamaha sold last year under 3000 would pry be the TT-R 125 and the TT-R 125 L........there fourstrokes btw......thats why there cheaper i think.....and the suspension and some other things on the bike aren't as "high tech" as the yz

80's are not faster than my kfx and i really dont think they are fster than a 400ex my kfx will keep up with a 125, it ends up beating me by like 3 quad lenghts

I had a ttr 125 and its not soo fast and doesnt have all that great of suspension. Yeah 80's are fast. I'm not racing so I got a kx100. Its a little faster than 80's and I like it cuzz it looks more like a big bike cuzz it has 2 shrouds comming off the tank. I woulda got a 80 but this has more power and im not really big enough for a 125 yet.

ya i just discovered that its the TTR's... but there 4-strokes......... i also noticed that dirtbikes are huge... now how tall do u have to be to ride these things??..... i had a 197? suzuki, it was a 100cc but it was pretty small and not very fast, my friends 300ex smoked me everytime until i got to top speed(65), then i passed him up..... but i have always loved dirtbikes.... i was looking at these KX500's... now that looks mean.. how bad would one of those smoke a 125?? and why are they cheaper than 250's?? thanks for all the replys

500's might be cheaper because not as many people want em cuzz they cant race em in 250 and they might be older than the newer more expensive 250's. My dad had a cr500 and it flew. Stock top speed is 96 MPH or something like that:eek2: I would rather have a cr500 than a kx500 just cuzz I have had better luck with honda but whatever you want get. You just have to be tall enough to touch the ground and you will prolly be fine

Ive got an 02 kx100 and it will stay about 2 bike lengths behind my friends kfx. and if i were you i would stay away from that 500 unless you wanna get seriously cause you sound like you havent had much experience on bikes. the kx500 is less than a 250 because it is the exact same 500 that was made in 1989 except for "bold new graphics" and the only good they really are is if you would want to fly through the dunes. you will also have very sore shoulders from the extremely violent powerband.if you really want a bike get an 01-03 suzuki rm125 cause they are neither the fastest nor the slowest and should be perfect for ya. hope this helps oh and all of yall have probably seen it but i love it so heres my bike!!

iv been riding dirtbikes and motorcycles for 4 years.... i have plenty of experience... i would be alittle more interested in a nimble bike so thats where im thinking a 500 probly would not be a good idea.... i think a 125 would suit me better..... ill keep looking.... nothing would be new... were talkin 89-93.... im on a high school students budget who has to pay for a car, a girlfriend, a home stereo and a car stereo.. so there not much left over for dirtbikes...
