View Full Version : 450r Pegs, what about the nerfs?

So I am asking this question out of pure curiosity, I feel like this is something people might be interested in. I know that 450r pegs will bolt up to a 400ex. I also know that I for one find nerf bars incredibly useful, especially on bad landings and not necessarily when I am using nerfs but when I am riding without them is when I find out how much I need them :eek2: <-- And that's the face I make when I learn this the hard way.

Here's the question, can a set of nerfs designed for a 400ex (NOT A 450r) be bolted up while running the 450r peg? If so what nerfs will work for sure, and which ones won't?

I am planning to buy 400ex pegs for the time being so I can ride, but I figure this is cheaper then buying a set of wider pegs and nerfs later on down the road when I will need them, especially if I sharpen the teeth good. Thanks!

Oh I know I'm just saying Ive seen brand new 450r pegs for sale for $15 and a set of used AC or tusk nerf bars is only like 60-80

I hear ya, my motto is buy once cry once tho.

If your looking to save cash maybe you can find some nerfs with built in pegs int he for sale section?

While the 450r pegs are a bitbetter than the EX pegs, I honestly will NEVER go back to just pegs. Not after I almost ran over my foot multiple times. i also wont run without heel guards either for the same reason.

I can't comment on other brands of nerfs, but I used to run 400EX AC standard nerfs with 450R pegs. Fit together no problem.

I don't think the Pro-Armor nerfs will work. It's difficult to explain, but they mount off of the bottom of the peg too. If the peg is any wider I don't think it would work without some modification.

Yeah I hear you on that one CJM. That's part of why I asked this question, I really like my 450r legs on my 450r, they're the perfect size for me. Although I don't run healguards anymore, I should get some of the netted ones, but I had a bad habit of relying on them instead of the pegs and I had to train myself to not use them that way because I was leaning so far back on jumps. I'll probably be riding with just pegs for a little while but that's because I have to get my wrist used to riding again and I will just be riding up and down the driveway for awhile.

And thanks NacsMXer for the info on AC that's good to know!

I been looking at getting 450r pegs or these White Brothers Foot Peg extension. Does anyone know if they will work with DG fat series nerfs?
