Well, I started tearing down the R to start my "mini" resto. I say mini since the quad is super clean already, but there are some typical 24 year old wear spots in areas that I'm debating on addressing. Is "all original" better or is "perfect, but painted/powder coated" better?

What would you guys do with this frame? It's already seen some PJ1 fighting red spray paint around the pegs and motor mounts, but the frame also still has all original warning/caution stickers as well the model and year designation sticker.

Since the photos, the aftermarket crap is all stripped, all wiring removed, frame clips all removed, and she got a first thorough cleaning. In about 2 hours, I should have the frame completely stripped.

In my opinion, yes I would have it repowdercoated. It looks to me that you have surface rust going on, I would have that sandblasted and repowdered for sure but im just critical that way. If you decide to get that frame repowdered, might as well get a gusset kit for the frame as well, however this is only my opinion. Good luck to whatever you decide to do.

Yeah, there is surface rust in most of the crevices and overlaps where there are pockets existing in the stock frame (obviously where water sits).

I hate to lose the OEM decals on the frame which is my only major issue...I'd much rather have an immaculate frame. I don't know about gusseting it since I am taking her back to 100% stock and leaving it as more of a collectible than a quad I plan to ride.

I actually saved my OEM stickers when I did my stock 88 frame. I took a brand new razor blade and was able to peel them off without damaging them, and then I stuck them on wax paper. I do that with alot of stickers that I want to reuse, if you stick them on wax paper you can still reuse them. Often if I want to place them back on someplace, if the glue isn't as strong as it was, I recommend using Super 77 Multipurpose Adhesive glue made by 3M, it comes in a marroonish color can with a black top. Any local hardware store should have it and Home Depot and Lowes carry it as well. If you decide to do this, again be very carefull using the blade to get the decals off and be carefull reapplying them with this type of glue, its very sticky. It's the best stuff I have used. Its just a thought, because that is what I have done in the past.

Awesome...thanks guys! That'll definitely push me to PC the frame. I'll contact him to see if he's got them. Anyone know if any production decals have been made for the swing arm??
