Hey guys to start im 30 years old, grew up riding street bikes and jet skis. I recently purchased this 04 400ex from a local guy on craigs list. From what I can see it was pretty well maintained but has a few things im unsure of.

First it has this white bros slip on exhaust, the problem i can see is that it doesn't slip all the way on the header pipe to the stop ring. is this a problem? I could fab 2 small brackets to line up the mounting holes on the frame so I can slip it on completely.

second. there are 2 small wires coming from the ignition box that are jumped to each other with wire. Can anyone help me with getting this back to the way it should be from the factory?

Looks to me the exhaust might be off something else or the brackets are slightly bent. Id just try and move it over a bit.

As for the jumped wires you have an aftermarket clutch lever and perch. Those wire attached to the original setup and made it so that unless you pulled in the clutch it wouldnt start-they have been jumped so it will start in gear without the clutch pulled in. Mine are cut and wired together on my quad for the same reasons.

What part of NJ are ya from?

What kind of pipe is that? Mine does the same thing only not as much. Shouldn't be a problem

On the wires I took a male plug in and cut off the metal part and ground it down so they would plug together and taped them to my handlebars so I could put on a aftermarket perch. I put a blockoff plate on and wanted a aftermarket perch. The parking brake to me is useless.

I traced mine all the way back down the wiring harness and cut them and spliced them together. I know I'm never gunna use them so I cut them as far back as I could without un-wrapping half the wiring harness.
