Anyone know the rubber hose on the side of the intake boot that connects to that little clear plastic thing? What does that do? Is it even needed? I was just curious..

Thanks, Steve

There should be a black hose that goes from a fitting on the crank case (near the starter) to the plastic container and then that has another fitting that hooks to the intake boot and that is the breather for the motor and it is nessecary.

LOL mine doesn't have a hose from the crankcase! I never even realized that. Didn't seem to run any different.. Good thing I noticed. Thanks man

Yep ^^^

The hose recirculates crankcase vapors back into the intake. The vapors combine with fresh air and are burned in the combustion process. The clear plastic tank is there to allow excess vapors to condense and drain back into the crankcase.

Yup ^^ haha

yeah i never know the use of the plastic thing but if his crank case hose is not connected that may be allow debry and dirt into his motor.

Post a pic of how yours looks. I'm not sure if I understand what is not hooked up on your machine.

If there is no hose attached to the clear plastic tank, then you have an intake leak which will cause a lean condition...not good.

Actually that plastic container is to catch oil from your crankcase and the tube is actually a crankcase breather.

You can eliminate the plastic catch and put a filter on the hose, youll also have to block the hole in the intake boot if you wanna give it a lil bump in power.

That air is recycled air and actually causes a palputation in the air flow, getting rid of it allows more cleaner non recycled air to flow freely in the intake boot.

Its good for a lil cheap mod.

What kind of filter would fit and work on that?

Small motorcycle filter probably.

I'll probably just clean it and keep it unless I can find a filter.

That's pretty sweet haha. I think I'm gonna buy it and give it a try.. The connector looks a lil smaller than the hose though :ermm:

they sell those filters at pepboys and autozone or even discount.

you can use hose clamps and pvc or copper anything you can find to attach it.

the stock oil catch is good to have tho.

I was just going to say that I could find a cheap one there.. Warm dirty air can't produce power though.. So I think this should be better..

Well I went to pep boys today and picked up a filter, clamps, and adapter for about $20. Filter was only $9 compared to K&N $25.. I'll put a pic up soon..

I just need to trim down the hose a lil and then it should work great

I thought the k&n was a little expensive but it was the first one I found and still trying to provide a quick reply so you would at least have an idea what you needed

yeah man, I appreciate it. it helped a lot. I figured i could make it cheaper. all you need is some clamps and some kind of an adapter to connect the hose to the filter.
