sealant on leaky 400ex valve cover?

i have a leaking 400ex valve cover. where the steel shim is that seals the valve cover to the head. i have put 2 gaskets on it and it leaks terrible. has anyone used sealant,rtv,gasket maker on the valve cover ?

I've used Indian Head made by Permatex with great results on all gaskets.

buy some silicone sealant, it works GOOOD

I used the non harding gasket sealer on mine when i put it back togeather,no leaks so far.But dont use much.You dont want to fill the little holes that lets oil come through.I just put a thin bead then wiped it down with my fingers.
