Yeah, I know this isn't an R, but it is a "cousin" from back in the day, and probably just as rare in stock condition. I stumbled across a 100% stock 1989 Pilot with around 1 hour running time. 1 owner who purchased it as a leftover at the end of 1992 with all original paperwork and receipt.

Basically he drained the tank and started it once a year and let it idle for around 20 minutes. It still has the little nubs on the side of all the tires. I was amazed at how clean and nice it is. A few minor scuffs on the fenders from sitting boxes on it and that's about it. Only "mod" is a fishnet like thing around the air snorkle. The battery is new (was taken off the buggy).

I'm almost afraid to even drive it, I would definitely change the tires/rims and put some under carriage/a-arm protectors on first. All I've done is wipe it down with a damp micro fiber towel.

Man Honda made some cool sh## back in the day!!!

Nice score! That is clean ride for sure, would have a hard time riding in it as well. Don't ever let it go man... it's not like you can find those anywhere.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy. It wasn't cheap, but I don't think there are many out there like this one.

A few years ago in the hayday when 250R's were going for 6K in mint condition there was a guy selling some original owner Pilots for $12K each.

those are probably rarer, you don't see them at all. most of the time you when you see the honda oddessy/piolit, they are oddessy 250 or 350's, never a pilot!!! and especially in that condition. I only seen 1 on person, I seen atleast 10 350 oddessys and a few 250's.

Very, very nice. I have been wanting one of these for a while now and they seem to rarely pop up. Great score. I want one to run in the UTV races of the GNCC. The pilots have their own class.

I used to have a fl250 odyssey well my brother and I did. Got it for free, sat outside for 5+ years. We took it home, put fresh mix in it, cleaned the carb, new plug and had it running and riding in about 45 minutes or so. I always wanted a pilot but never see them up for grabs anymore. I love them and they look to be a blast to ride.

These arent as clean as the OP's but there are some on ebay!

Wow that ***** is suhweet! If it wasn't for the headache of storage and trailering I would certainly own one. I met a guy local to me who has two of those. He lets them sit in his garage while he rides his Kawi 700 (snicker snicker). I don't get it???!!

Congrats on your purchase! Take care of her so the next buyer gets the same experience ;)

Yeah, it's pretty neat. Frankly it should be kept as a show piece, so I think I'll try trading it to Pilot collector for a clean, used Pilot plus cash. If I cannot work something out, I'll swap some stuff out on it that cannot be replaced (i.e. tires) add better protection and hope to heck I don't damage it.
