I have a 42 pilot and it helps it start easier because I took out my choke. Other than that i dont think it plays a big role in top speed, 67 mph is about where ur 400 should be if it is jettet right, a 42 pilot wont hurt it though.

Long island is pretty much at sealevel right?? I think its because my altitude is a bit higher, i Am in PA an hour north west of Philly. I am actually a little rich at 152. But as long as ur plug reads okay then ur good. If it doesnt feel like its boggin when ur wide open ur not rich, i had a 155 and it would bog when i was wide open and i knew i wasnt goin as fast as it could so i stepped it down and now i can tell the difference.
