i have a trail boss 250. it has the 90's trailboss plastics, tires, wheels, etc. but it has the 80's style transmission the type where the shifter is behind your right foot. anyway the transmission is junk on it and i want to put in a decent motor. any suggestions? how would i overcome the right hand sprockets?

right side sprokets, you could use a old cr250, atc250r, cr500 motor, I believe 85 and under?

it would be air cooled but right side drive, or it may be possible to make your swingarm upside down?

OR plan B, you could buy a regular style swingarm from a 400ex, blaster, banshee, etc... and make it fit?

flipping the swing arm or putting in a 400ex, etc swingarm in might work. i have been looking at a snowmachine motor out of a polaris indy 500 free air twin or a rm 125

A snowmobile motor is the easiest way.

I have a 1986 trailboss and I'm going to put a twin cylinder liquid cooled 500cc efi polaris snowmobile engine in it. The quad is torn apart but I need more $$$ before I go any further.

I plan to design a extended swingarm and redesign the front suspension so it has shocks and dual a-arms. I think the strut suspension polaris uses is junk.

You can run 83 and under Honda elsinor 250. Air cooled, right side drive, and still enough aftermarket support because of the AHRMA...
