Ran a new best time in the sand drags at dirty foot's 300' track. I ran a 6.35 @ 50.1mph. My buddy who weighs much less that I do ran a 6.1 flat on my bike. This is on stock tires, I should be getting some paddles soon, cause I spin the starts bad.

you only ran 50mph with your setup? i mean if thats not topspeed thats good but is that in 5th on topend?
EDIT i just noticed the stage 1 cam... so really that isent that bad

Lol no one tops out 5th in 300 feet. I go through the traps at the top of 3rd, sometimes bottom of 4th

yea i do ,but i also have 18's sooo.. thats the reason. so thats really good what you think 5th pegged would be on your setup? also you have any pics of your quad?.. ive followed your builds but dont belive i have ever seen your quad

There are pics of it in the main picture thread. 18 would be terrible for drags, and even then I don't think you'd top out 5th. 5th topped out on mine is about 70, but I run out of gear before I run out of motor. Btw, my build destroyed several 440s including a 440 suzuki

I dont drag it's to hard on a 450 motor.. but i will line up on the 300'strip at the track every now and again and yes i top out in 5th right at or a little after the 300'line.... and nice man must be fast quad then!

how is it too hard on your motor? anyways thanks. I keep wishing I had gone bigger on the build now, next time will be larger valves and a 13.5:1 piston

because the larger valves in my engine on highcomp has a bigger chance of valve float...even with my dual WEB valve springs. now my mild ex was a fun dragger thats almost all i ever did on that thing

still don't make since, plenty of 450s competing in the drags and if what you describe was a problem it would be a problem even during motocross, TT, flattrack, or high speed trail riding. And those mods you describe are something most people do on their drag quads...

whatever it is what my builder told me man.... how can you think its not hard staying on top rpms for seconds at a time?

6 seconds at Redline vs. 20 min motos at or very near the readline. You'll be absolutely fine.

btw, here is the link to recent pics, they are in this thread: http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=479412

yes sir, even has the stock pipe still!!! Gonna get me some for snows and a pipe but it does kinda kill the sleeper look. The only thing people see right now is the larger oil tank

01Boneless were you doing drags on sand? If you're doing it on sand it eats up your power like crazy and I can guarantee you even on my Banshee that wasn't possible in 300ft, not without a lot more done to it anyways.

very thick dust (like sand) with 18's

Oh trust me sand is way different. Texture wise they're similar, but with sand it literally pulls you into the ground. It's hard to explain but because theres no solid ground under the sand for quite a ways you can get into really deep trouble. I've seen 4x4's out on the dunes sunk in up to the seat. And 18 inch tires certainly don't work on this stuff. Usually from a dead stop you'll end up digging about a 10 inch hole in the sand, so you have to have a bigger tire to compensate. All in all when it comes to the sand (at least in the Oregon dunes), you gotta have sand paddles, a fresh set of nobbies over 20 inchs will do but they're not nearly as good.
