i love everything about my 416 except how tall it feels. And how it lands from jumps. What would be some good fronts? Triple rate, elka, works, 450r, ?????

Cheapest by far is a set of 450r shocks resprung and revalved for your setup. Also wider arms will help as well.

I want to keep it as narrow as possible so what about lowering it a little?but i also want ground clearance

You cant have both ground clearance and lowering it. Its one or the other, larger tires mean better ground clearance but higher center of gravity, same for longer shocks. Honda 450r shocks raise the front up about an inch.

About the only real way what you want to do will work is with some a-arms set up for max clearance-but of course they are $$$$.

Id put on honda 450r shocks, relax the adjustments for ride height all the way off and be done with it. YFZ 450 shocks will also work with some cutting to the shocks themselves at the bolt holes, they ride softer and lower the ride height about 1 inch.

I like the honda shocks better, but thats just me.

Do not go 450r go yfz450 yfz are better in every way. And I would hope you would not buy 450r or yfz shocks and then spend money on them to have them rebuilt when for the same price you could have a good used name brand shocks that work better. :ermm: use your head.

imo every one goes 450r because they think in their head they need to use only honda parts when fact is yfz fronts are way better. Not only do they work way better for mx or xc but 450r shocks actualy make you taller and wear out your ball joints. Many people learnd this and i tested both years back.

I definitely agree with the money aspect of it. Most people buy a used set of take-off's to save some cash, right? Sure you can pick up a used set of 450r's or yfz's for $150 - $200 but what does revalving plus new springs cost? I suppose you'd have to ask yourself if you're building on a budget or if you have money to burn...

If you buy a good set of new shocks (why buy used when you have no clue what they are set up for?) they will be around $800-$1500, depending on the brand. If you buy a used set of 450 shocks for $200 and then re-valve and re-spring them to triple rates, thats about $600. So $800 total for stock re-valves/re-springs for your weight versus name brand shocks set up to your weight. You're not losing alot either way you go.

Usualy if you just wait and look in the classified section you can pick up a good set of 450r shocks for 125 bucks (thats what i got mine for) and then send them to gt thunder for 400 you only got 525 or so into to them not bad at all when they feel like some high end shocks.

Resprung/revalved 450r shocks would be your best bet. But I also love my PEP ZPS shocks! Worth the extra money in my opinion.
