I know this thread has been done before but I just want some reassurance that its not damaged the enigine in any way.Its about 45 degrees outside and i figured I would start my 400ex just because its been left sitting for about a month now.I let it run for abour 5 minutes and I just happened to look down and the headpipe was glowing bright red.I have a White Brothers E-series,K&N Filter,152 main jet and no airbox mods.So any help you give me would be really appreciated.

Thanks

If its glowing bright red, you could be lean on the pilot jet. I put an 42 pilot in my 400Ex with a full exhaust system with a Uni air filter with a 155 main jet at sea level. To be on the safe size check you pilot.

Good Luck

Its probably lean from the cold and the old gas.

Maybe some slight glowing at night is ok, but if its day light out and you see some glowing, thats bad.

You are defiantly lean. Go to a 42 pilot jet with new gas and see if that helps. If not then up the size of your main jet.
