The Blackwater 100 now theres a race!!! I was pretty young when we first started watching the VHS tapes of this race or reading the highlights, but its a race that a buddy and vowed that we'd race one day. Now we're both in are middle 30's and neither of us has even raced something similar!! They don't even put on the Blackwater 100 anymore do they?? I thought thay stopped some years back if I can remember correctly? I'd like to find out and someone on here knows?? I'm positive at least a few of the guys on here raced that badboy one year at least!! Let me know???

Steve Holbert did win Blackwater on a 250x. His family owns the High Point MX facility in Mt Morris PA.

The Blackwater ended in 1993 due to a number of reasons including environmental issues.

Skyeryder: I thought that something like thst had happened because of all the wter crossings and such! Man what a great race that was, if I had been a little older with transportation and such I would have loveed to take on the Blackwater 100 someday!!! No such luck though??? Dang Well the pics are much appreciated and bring on more if you like!!!!! Maybe I'll do some GNCC races when I get my builds together completely!

im not that old but steve did win the blackwater from what i can rember hearing on racer tv from i think the 01 or 02 series when he ran a few here and there--- they made refrence to him winning one- but iono what is was on. i think he won it in 88 if my memmory is correct---- awsome pics man!!! man how the sport has changed. The white power suspension was top knotch in those days.

Markk, Thats funny WP being the suspension of chioce!! Now I wouldn't even put that on my Loner bike!! Well maybe if the price was dirt cheap! I love those old school pics though keep them comming. I wouldn't mind doing so GNCC races myself! When my LRD project is finished! I've been building it a little skinnier with only a +2 up front so those tight woods won't be too back, thats what I grew up doing, just on a dirtbike and I was pretty fast so it would be cool to get back into it!!! Keep those pics commin!! hell, I may enen use that YZF 450r I have, its stock width now, with nerfs and ASV levers on it. The only other extras are an exhaust, K&N, nerfbars, ASV's and a jet kit!! Who know too many projects too little time, ya know!! Spring is commin up quickly!!

I wonder how many riders locked up their motors from taking on water in those races? I would bet it was pretty common. I avoid water above my wheels at all costs, call me a sissy, but those guys are nuts. There's some good 250r footage from a blackwater race on YouTube also.

I used to love watching those tapes as a kid. Plus Motoworld (I think that was the name of the program) when it was on TV. Then theres the old school supercross races on TV when you were lucky enough to catch them!! I'll have to check out you-tube for that Blcackwater footage!
