In this economy, $450 for the rear, $650-$800 for the fronts, $200 hood and $150 for the light. This is assuming they are in new condition. This would be what I would expect to get for them on ebay if I was selling.

Trimmed is the big big thing here. Bottom line is that you can't compare yours to new stock pricing out there. That being said they will still be worth some good cash, just not stock restore rare cash.

Everybody has already made the point, but the fact is no matter how good of condition they are in, NEW is NEW, USED is USED.

Big money comes from collectors and collectors want NEW not slightly new. It's like those Star Wars toys and even transformers. NEW never opened commands a high price, new but opened is usually a steep drop off. Same with the fenders.

$2K for new in the box never mounted. $1K for Near pristine new but still hard to find buyers.

So theres your answer. Keep them. I am a 250R fan and had many high dollar builds. Some times I have to laugh when people think they are sitting on a gold mine??? OK

doc-bones.....I have had many high dollar builds myself......don't think I am sitting on a gold mine.....money is not the issue here....just not going to give something away because of a down economy or because someone says they are "near new" I will just keep them for my Laeger build or maybe just let them hang from the rafters in my shop........

Trimmed. If you don't believe that this is getting close to the value you might be holding onto them for awhile. Good luck though, you only need one buyer. As far as ****ty sets selling for 600 to 800 I have a complete uncracked set ready for spider look surface restore that I would love to sell. I would make boxes and ship them anywhere cont us for that in a heartbeat. I don't think the economy is back to your gut value yet but you could just hang onto them for another couple of years and find somone that will look beyond the cut.

People always got something to say to bring the value down. 9 times out of 10 the same people would be wanting top dollar if the shoe was on their foot. That would be the same as telling doc that his laeger yz is only worth 5 grand because it's been used a time or two since he finished the rebuild. I am not saying doc's hybrid is not worth what he is asking just showing you how chris feels when people say they are not worth much.

You guys crack me up.

First off, something is only worth what someone will pay for it. Not what they think someone would pay for it.

Now my exp. With oem *new* fenders. I have sold quite a few brand new still sealed in the boxes complete white sets for 1000. Red fenders, different story. From my exp. You would be hitting the jackpot getting 1000 for a truly used set of oems. Not downing them, but pretty sure on that. I can almost gurantee every new set I sold is still in the box sealed with the new owners. For someone to open a set, that kills the true collectable value. Otherwise they are just used fenders on a quad. I've got a room full(literally full lol) of 250r fenders. Most of which are oems that are in Very good shape. If you can find someone to pay 800 a set, I'll split the money with you lol.

I meant "near new" as a good thing, not getting on your case.
I'm jealous. Hang on to those babies until the economy picks up and you'll turn out fine, especially in a bidding situation.

Not to beat a dead horse but economics is at play here. You asked what someone would pay and a couple guys offered $1000 IMO that's not that bad of a price.

Sure he could ask $10000, for it does that mean it's worth that? The market is the market and the market has shown that a NEW set can go for 2K plus, but you are talking about 10 people or less that are willing to pay that.

Because they are not brand spanking new, it doesn't make sense to put them on a show piece that will never get ridden if everything else is new. For somebody who will ride and possibly trash them (possible crash or mud or racecutting them) it makes no sense to spend 1500+ to buy OEM when Maier can be bought for $400 and Fullbore for $600ish.

JBLt this is not to knock you, but I can tell you, if you are fishing for a high dollar for them to make some dough then this is not the place. Ebay seems to be the only place that brings out the "money is no object" buyers.

All you have to do is test the water on Ebay and see. $5 listing will probably tell you what they are worth. Set your reserve to whatever you wanted +10%. The market is also timing and with tax refunds around the corner, you might get lucky. At Christmas time could go either way, dead of summer - good luck.

maybe you all should get into the ferrari nos & used parts business!!! i mean u could buy a island off your profits!!! or
maybe even honda of japan and reissue the legendary trx250r and make new sets of oem plastics and sell them for $10k a set!

$5K a set - your forum name fits you just right! All joking aside, you can charge what you want and people can buy what they want. I would imagine that it would take a die hard 250r lottery winner to make that sort of investment.

Thats some funny chit.... lol
Just let us all know if and when they sell for even $1500. Let alone 5K. That is funny. Guys have a hard time selling like brand new 88-89 complete bikes all original for 5K.
Like I said some people on here are delirious.
Guess just like women.... All in the eyes of the beholder.
I said real worth was 1K because I am realistic. Last year sold brand new 89 set with nose and all clips for 1K.
But then again I sold mine and you still have yours. Enjoy the Storage. Some like to have tons of crap in their garages and attics etc........

This site will not get you top dollar for these. If you are really wanting market value, put them on ebay and be done with it. They will fetch $1000-$1200 for your set. I sold 2 new oem 88 sets new in honda wrapping for $2200 a set each over the past summer ( no hoods).

I dont think any amount of waiting will ever make new oem fenders worth $5k to someone. Rich250r, you are wishing upon a star. Mostly all diehard 250r collectors nowaday that are willing to pay top dollar allready have their new oem fenders and other parts in their basement collections. People who have the 250r in their heart and soul have had it their for a while...not since yesterday. Those people have been around long enough to buy all this crap from the dealers when these parts WERE available...like a lot of us.

To do a proper resto is just to expensive to start collecting the parts today...making the value of these fenders capped out in my opinion because of the very limited market for them. My 2 cents.

Maybe someday I'll sell them for a whole lot less, or I'll just put them on two of my quads. But if you really, really need a set....................you know where to reach me. Bring a big pile of cash, it's all I accept. By the way, I have two brand new, complete motors, and they're not for sale either, unless the pile becomes a mountain.

FWIW, I'm just throwing this out there, but I have some NEW OEM fenders that I'd sell for $8000-$10000, but you get tons of NEW OEM stuff with it. Almost everything discontinued, so in the end the fenders actually only end up being about $600 or if you took the time to sell everything, I'm sure you could end up with a set for free - time and effort to list and sell over 300 parts.

Any takers? Tax refunds?

Rich, this thread is about the value of some near new 89 fenders, if you keep posting about the two new sets you have and the price for sale then start a new thread...this is not the first thread you took over with you bragging about these.

I dont think anybody is mocking you because they are jelouse of them. There are people who have responded to you in this thread who have new oem sets, me to be one of them. Go away with this "bring a pile of cash" BS.

Doonrider, I've just built a huge collection of alot of the rare, hard to find, and obsolete stuff over the years. I've been finding stuff lately when moving that I didn't even know I had lol.

Someday if I ever get the time I would live to make a list of everything. I've still got crates I've never sorted through of all the smaller 250r oem new in package parts, including every single piece of hardware. One of my buddies I bought their complete race setup from literally would order every single part number for the 250r's on up to the 450's from honda/yamaha every year they were racing. Most pieces were multiples also. You name it, I got her for the oem stuff Honda stuff;) You could go complete new 250r engine, or build one with every single individual part, new unopened... Heck, built a complete quad... Only a few guys on here that know what ol' Justin really has:D

And yup that would have been me with the tt walsh r.
