GT Thunder Linkage problem

Ok, I tried to put my rear shock on earlier and it wouldn't go on for anything. The coil spring hits the front of the swing arm before I can even get it close to lining up with the bolt hole at the top when the bottom one is in. I thought the linkage was on wrong but I don't think you can put it on wrong. Is this right?

I also have a pic of the part number off GT Thunder's paper that it came with and the one on the linkage, and they are different. Is it the wrong one or what's going on here?

I'll look at the # on my link 2morrow,but it looks like you got the right link. Try bolting the shock the the frame and the link. then bolt the link up to the swingarm. I thinking that how I put my together. I let ya know on the #.

I had this same problem when I put a gtt xc link on my spare bike im fixing up. it took me like 30 mins trying to just get it bolted up. I had the frame jacked up with a floor jack and I had to pick the swingarm up just right to try and get all the holes lined up to get the bolts in. and after it was all bolted up and the bike jacked up, the spring would bind against the swingarm.

You should be able to rotate the spring so the swingarm fits between the coils. You have the correct linkage; can you take a picture with the shock installed? I would recommend installing the upper shock bolt first. Make sure the frame is 12" or slightly higher off the ground. As you have found so far, everything is pretty tight to correct the wheel travel. However, when you ride it you'll realize it was all worth it :D

yep. Just check my link and it the same. 01-004. My paper that came with it says 04-001 too. Never notice before.

Well I got it on. I figured out the PC was a little too thick on the top frame mount for the shock and it wouldn't let the shock slide in freely. I took a file and filed it down and it bolted right up, then I spun the spring to where it will clear. Man it is tight against that swing arm when it's up in the air.

It always seems like such a shame to sand away fresh powder, but the parts need to fit, haha. Glad you were able to get the shock installed. Your build is looking great!

Thanks. Now if I could just get those a-arms ;) and that locknut/brake hub then I can get it all back together.

Disconnect the linkage from the dogbone, connect shock, reconnect to dogbone.
