Not long ago my daughter busted her head pipe so i got a stock replacement for her 2010 drr 90.. Well come to find out her quad had a 50cc pipe and a 50cc carb installed on from hotquads new. I talked to the previous owner and he said he ordered it this way to mostly have bottom end power.. With that said it ran great but seemed to hit top speed pretty quick. Now whith her riding improving i would like for her to have the full power/speed of the stock 90. I ordered a stock 90 pipe from G- Force ( they have been great to deal with ) but when i installed it with the 50 carb it had nothing.... wouldnt even move full throttle . I played with jetting a little but not much improvement. So since i live close to MAX R P M i went to their shop in hope of finding a good stock carb. Well the didnt have one so i bought a Stage 6 28mm i think. I cannot remember what jets i installed, I went off both max r pm and G force recomended. But both told me they have never tried to run this setup on a stock motor so i'm not trying bash anyone as they have helped me alot. I also switched my rollers and spring to what they recomended. I cannot remember what i installed as it has been over a month but still have the boxes at home.

The little quad runs good but seems to have a really harsh power band type accel going on. When it hits its certian rpm it rips but until then nothing. Watching my daughters last race
helmet cam vid is when i have really noticed this. In real tight woods it seems to not pull hard low to mid throttle and struggles until it hits somewhere around mid to 3/4 throttle.

I guess my question is has anybody tried this combo?? If so could i get some info on jetting? needle position? rollers?spring?

I wish i could remember what all i installed as i know that would help, but im brain dead at the moment. I work out of state and only have limited days for her to practice ( XC ) and to wrench on her quad. So any info i could get on setups would be great so when i get back home next week i could get the thing running great again.

But jetting is based on our altitude and humidity.

Not sure if it is jetting or just carb size/brand..

We ran a stock setup for a year here on the other end of KY. I'll tell you what we ran.
128 main
42 pilot
needle in 3rd (Middle) position
Check your reeds. Sounds like you may have one broken.

Needle pos is important, you might want to try and rise your needle and do a plug chop first of all.

I have been going thru emails and i think i remember what it has now.

Best i can remember it has a 45 pilot,125-130 main, needle second clip from top.
1250 spring and 3.75 rollers

that sounds about right for the rollers and spring but way to heavy on jetting!
Jetting is T&E not every ones is the same.

the small carb and 50 pipe work great for the woods lots of power down low where it counts, keep in mind the larger carb and the pipe are both costing you bottom end power so the new set-up you have will not be as torquie and may not be better or even as good when it comes to crawling around trees and hill climbing in the woods . Big carb and 90 exhaust wants to turn alot more rpm she will have to stay on the pipe or it will build clutch heat and become boggie. The new set-up will be much faster on top end though.

what about gearing down a little with the 90 setup to help keep the rpms up?? Or gearing up the 50 setup a little to gain a little speed?

if your top end feels good . your main jet should be fine . does the bike feel like its building rmp and shoots to to high range , then maybe its yor rollers , you can test it , take one roller out . and run that way just for a test run for lighter rollers , your needle clip should be be for your mid range . usely when i put bigger pipes on our bikes . i lighten up on the rollers and smaller on the main jet , and most of our bikes i run 19 front to 29 to 30 back sprocket .. and check your variator put in your hand together and make shore every thing moves freely . i clean mine after every moto with a rag . somtimes they will stick open . and are you using stock ignition , we use pvl on all our bikes . great response from bottom to top and for comming out of turns

I agree with the roller. We run slot of cc races and run a lighter roller then most people recommend so we don't get exactly what your experiencing. Also its free and easy to try pulling out 1 roller
