Hey guys, who can answer this one? I have a 2007 400ex, I need to get a new cylinder for it, I notice that a cylinder for a 2008 is about 80.00 cheaper then one for a 2007. I always thought that the cylinders were the same throughout all the years. Anybody have any idea what they changed on the cylinders between the 07 and 08? Will the 08 work on the 07?

Thanks in advance

Most 400ex parts are from 99-07, so I don't think that it will work especially if there's that much of a price difference. But just wait and the experts on here will give ya the right awnser :P

Yea I know alot of the body parts changed but I wasn't aware they ever made any engine changes. Thanks for the response though, hopefully somebody knows what they changed.

Okay well this is confusing me now. Wiseco says their 400ex piston fits 99-07, but yet Namaura says theirs fits 99-08

i think the only thing they did deferant was that they didn't put in a decomp lob on the cam so wouldn't need the hole the spring and plunger sat in

Yea I know, got me confused to. As far as the decomp deal, that would be in the head, really wouldn't have anything to do with the cylinder right? For some reason I got the feeling that their the same even know the 08 is 80.00 cheaper and a differant part number. Somebody has to know, LOL......

Thanks guys

The better question is do you simply need the sleeve or the entire cylinder/jug itself.

If its a matter of the sleeve-bore it out to the next size, if its an entire cylinder then you got an issue.

The part numbers are different, not sure what they coulda changed but they are different.

Need the whole cylinder, apperntly the previous owner got it hot and the sleeve dropped a bit, once that happens you are taking a big chance re-sleeving, this quad will be raced at the ATVA Nat's and I won't take that chance, rather buy a new cylinder then drive 600-800 miles and have something happen because I re-sleeved it. I have seen other stuff change part numbers but be the same exact part and I have a feeling this is what went on with the 07/08 cylinder, but was hoping someone on here knew for sure.
