Alright so I can get this blown 2005 yz450f for $750 I thought that was a pretty good price. Could I buy and sell it blown and make money? If so what could I sell it for?

Can you do all of the work yourself? Do you know what kind of damage is done? Most likely no I dont think its that great of a deal unless you can just slap a new piston in and go. Unless you know the crank and valves are fine its really a gamble. You also need to take a look at the other parts on the bike. Ive done this quite a few times actually.

Make a list of a worst case scenerio rebuilt and add up the cost. Then add in other things the bike may need to be sold. Also want to figure in the hours you will have in the bike. Look what the average price of one goes for. Also pay attention to what some look like with the price. A cleaner one will obviosly sell easier than a beat up one.

If you want to fix something up and flip it you would be a lot better off with a 2 stroke. 4 strokes are a lot riskier and more expensive to rebuild. JMO. I don't think you would make a ton of money off it...

Well what he is asking is, If he buys it for $750 could he resale it WITHOUT rebuilding it for more do you think?

I dont know anything about dirtbikes but i know if you buy a YFZ450 blown up you can resale it for like $1300 or so with it being blown up.

If it's truely f****d you could always part it out if you had the patience for everything to sell. I also agree that 2 strokes are easier, don't have to screw with valves and parts are generally cheaper.

Ya I really don't want to part it out don't have the space for all the extra parts.

Oh my bad, I misread it. I don't see any on Craigslist listed for over 1000 that are blown up, even newer ones. Might be able to make a couple hundred bucks at the most I'd say.
