CDI box question

I have 2 WB cdi's on the bench also 1 stock and 1 question mark... The WB which I understand is an XR250 cdi is smaller then the stock one and has WB scribed into the side. The one I just picked up is small like the WB but not scribed. Can anyone tell me if there are 2 different sized stock cdi boxes for the 400ex?

I bought it listed as a stock 04 400ex cdi. The stock box I had came out of an 01.

On a side note, I have 2 WB cdi boxes I would let go of cheap if anyone wants to try one out, if not they will go on eBay... Everyone seems to love aftermarket "rev" boxes there..

My WB CDI is from around 2000 I'm guessing, bought it new from WB. It is the same size an looks of the stock cdi except it has WB itched on it. It was my understanding back then the WB took the stock cdi an made the changes on it.

Ive been through a bunch of different CDIs and CDI testing WB was by far the best one!

I have 2 stock CDI boxes also, and are different sizes. The older one (2000) is smaller than my new one. (2004)

I wondered this same thing but i figured out by comparing quads with my buddy who also has a 2004 400ex, that had the same size CDI as mine.


EDIT: I have them backwords sorry, the 04 is smaller than the 00. The earlier model 400ex's have a slightly larger CDI than the 03-04 and the 05-06 are completely differently designed.
