I am in the market for some new tires for my 400ex, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what a good all around tire would be, for front and rear.

Any type of mx style knobby is a godd all round tire, I personally like maxxis razrs, but there are plenty of better brands and cheaper brands out there that will do just as good.

I like buying my tires from www.rockymountainatv.com

Kenda tires are awsome very underated in my opinion i always get kenda kutter rears and kenda klaw fronts. They are pretty cheap from rocky mountin or motosport. Great tires

I have to say I am enjoying the hell out of my razr's. I ran only holeshot's and turf tamers before this but my razr's I feel have more grip than the others. Nice tires and will buy them again.

Whatever you do just don't get 22" rears or you will have way less power!

I've been running 22's for awhile now and I never noticed a huge difference from the 20's that it came with. Plus with the 22's you gain more ground clearance, I've rode through/over stuff that my friends get stuck in/on. Just my opinion....oh and +1 for the razrs.

razrs always get my vote, great grip and great wear for an mx tire.

if you run 22's you can always gear it down to compensate for the bigger size.

It would be impossible for me to run 22" becasue they would hit my DG alloy series nerf bars.

I feel your pain with not being able to mount 22s. I can't clear them with my Pro Armor nerfs either. I ride trails alot and I always get hung up on everything, really pisses me off that I can't run them. And I wouldn't run 23s up front unless you run ALOT of GNCC or XC, I have them and it makes the quad sit and steer awkwardly on my track, front end sits too high, and it looks stupid to me also. Go with 22s or 21s if you do more MX.

I like 20" rear and 21" front or i would go with 18" rear but i would want to change my sprocket and i would bottom out in the woods alot.

The reason I run 23"Maxis Maxis Rzr 2's on the front and 22" Rzr 2's on the back is I take my quad where the 4x4 go. Climbing big rocks and going up climbs where the 4x4 and the RZR's go and have rutted up. So of the places we go you will get hung up and then somebody has to winch you up. To be honest running that size rather the 22"up front and 20" on the rear don't make it any more tippy. Maybe on a track but its groomed and alot of the places we ride are not. Has any of y'all ever been to Brimstone Recreation or Coal Creek(Windrock) in Tennessee?

But you can't jump a Honda Foreman like you can a sport quad. I enjoy the challenge of riding things like that.:D

If like challenging trails I highly recommend both of the places. Between the two of them they have close to 600 miles worth of trails.

For general riding, MX/XC and all the others in between I say go 21 fronts and 20 rears. It's not the best of anything but it can do everything. I've had great success with Artrax tires actually. But my favorite has to be the GBC Bombsquad tires, they're great! And right now the quad I have has ITP Holeshots which work pretty good but only on hardpack, they're no good in the mud.

I am currently running ITP Track Stars and love them. I do a lot of trail riding and running through open fields. These things flat out hook up and throw some dirt. I am running 20's in the rear due to nerf bar clearance, can't remember if the front's are 21's or 22's off the top of my head.

I race XC and I used to run 22" up front and found out that the pros run 21" up front so I tried some. That was a huge improvement. The improved handling far our weighs the benefits of the extra clearance you get with the 22". I will never run anything but 21" in front now.

I just tried 21's up front on sunday. I always ran 22's up front and 21's out back for racing xc. I agree with 400excracer. The improved handling is awesome!!!! I'll never run anything but 21/20 combo. I tried the gbc xrex for the first time up front and and razors in the rear. Great combo. the xrex's would steer out of muddy ruts and the razors hook up well all over.
