Just Becarefull with the gasket. Either go get another one or make sure that you dont rip that one. Other then that you should have no problems at all

I had to get another one. It worked with a ripped gasket for a few rides but when I had a chance to go down and get a new one I did. Just take it off and polish it. Be carefull to re oil the bearing inside before you put it back in ecspecially if you clean the entire thing to prep it for chroming. I have a high pressure oil degreaser and cleaner here at work that I used to get some metal particales from the polishing our of the bearing. After making sure it was turning with no noise than I added the oil to it.

No if you look inside the starter cover where the bearing is you will notice it has oil on it. Just a tiny bit to keep it lubricated. It looked somewhat like engine oil but I used sewing machine oil when putting it back on since it is better for bearings. You do not have to do this unless you totally clean the inner part of the cover like I did. The only reason I did it was because I could here the metal particles inside the bearig when I turned it so I knew it had to be cleaned. Just cover it up with tape to save you the hassel while polishing.

Oil for sewing machines. Same as clear oil for any machine. Not engine oil thou.
