How many of you did a 11.1 416 keeping the stock timing chain? I kno its better to change it but with the extra cost I was wondering how many people change it? If I do a 11.1 416 wth HD head studs should I b ok or do most people change it because you hav had a lot of your hard earned $ go down the drain because of a extra $100 part + labor

depends how many hours are on the current chain. like Thumpin said, you can be safe and get a crf450 timing chain for about $30. much stronger than stock, and you'll have the peace of mind of having a new chain. most people just order a chain for an 02 crf450.

I kept the stock chain on my 416. It is a rare case if one breaks. You just don't here of it very often, Usually the tensioner malfunctions. IMO

true, but breaking isn't usually the issue. they can stretch beyond the limits of the tensioner.
