No, we have an Elka triple rate on the rear, wanted the Fox on the rear also but they didn't have anything available for it, Carey at midwest said we could come up with one for it but it would take some time to get it togeather, so we decided to use the Elka for this year and over next winter get with Carey and get a Fox Podium togeather for it.

Retail on the arms is 910.00 and the shocks retail for right at 1600.00.

He's not old enough for the 450 class, you have to be 16 to race the 450 in the AMA, he's only 14, so he will run the Raptor in the schoolboy Jr. class and the 400 in the Schoolboy Sr. class.

You know, I didn't think it looked right there, was wondering why my oil lines were so short....LOL.....I'm just waiting to get the monting bracket back from Rath for the nerfs, when they sent me the nerfs, they accidently sent the wrong front mount and with the oversized oil tank there is no way to get the mount in with the tank in, hoping to have the mount also today.

Kevin Smitley Yup and i've also had problems with removing and header with the tank on or removing the tank with the header on.

From Talking to my engine builder I would say yes at least 20 deg. if not more.

Here are a couple updated pics, just about there, the plastics aren't bolted all the way down because I still have some jetting to do, but my son couldn't wait any longer to see what it was going to look like, LOL....Still waiting for the mounting bracket from Rath for the nerfs, guess once it gets here I will have to un bolt the oil tank and raise it up a bit to get it in, but shouldn't be a big deal. Got it started up this evening and it sounds really good, sounds like another strong Rage engine. Got 19 days before we leave for the 1st race in Ga., so getting down to the wire as usual, LOL....The last couple pics is his other quad, the Raptor 250, just thought I would throw it in there to......

Thanks for the compliments, I do enjoy building them, (for the most part lol), Brandon normally picks out the color schemes and graphics, I just do all the work, kinda like the racing, he does the fun part, the riding, and I get to work on them, LOL. But thats ok, I am just happy I am fortunant enough to be able to do it with him, the times we have had togeather since he started when he was 5 are ir-replaceable and hopefully many more to come, we have also got to meet and become very good freinds with alot of great people. Thanks again for the compliments

The head on the 400? Shouldn't be, just a stock head with Rage porting and oversized valves.

Wow man such an amazing quad. I have a few questions for you tho what year is this quad and what year are the plastics for? I have a 2001 and have been building it slowly over the past 6months and am contemplating getting 05-07 plastic with an aftermarket hood to give it more of a 450 look. Also what type of tires are you running?

mxdad423
03-04-2012, 07:43 AM
Thanks for the compliments. Sure thing, I will measure them for you today sometime when I get out to the garage and let you know this evening.

Thanks for the compliments. This one is an 07, so this is the style plastic on it originally, but you can covert your 01 over pretty easy, the rears are the same all the way through 07, the fronts are differant but I know alot of people that converted and all they had to do was buy the stays (mounting brackets). try to find the stays used though, there are 2 that are only like 10.00 new but the other 2 are like 65.00 each, so if you can find them used you would be way better off. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Couple differant ways you can do it, one is just click on the browse button just below where you type when doing a reply and pick what you want from your files, or you can go to photobucket and create and account and download the pics to there, then just put the cursor on the pic you want to put up and click the img code that come up then paste it onto your post, when you do it this way you can put as many pics as you want into your post, if you do it by clicking the browse button just below your post you can only do one pic at a time.

Ok Sorry it took so long, I been extremely busy today and just got a chance to get out to the garage, from the center of the tube where the pegs are to the center of the tube on the front where it slides onto the mount is 14 3/8", so basically it would be that measurment from center of mount to center of mount. Hope that helps you out.

Looks good, keep up the good work, those 07 plastics will really make it look sharp, Like you, I like the look of the 450 on the 400's, I was looking at one of the new 2011 400ex's at the hoda dealer yesterday and I still like the looks of the 05-07's better.
