I recently bought some 1 1/8" pro taper contour bars and everything bolted up nicely but my throttle for some reason. I can make it as tight as possible but it will slide when im riding. If I clamp it to the stock bars it holds fine and tight. Its almost like the pro tapers are a hair too small around that area. Or maybe my clamps worn out or something. I need some help on what to do. Has anyone else had this problem?

Are your screws bottoming out? You may be to buy some shorter screws/bolts and then tighten them down.

i can try buying shorter screws but whats weird is it tightens fine on the stock bars. but on the pro tapers it just doesnt get tight enough.

Well if you are tightening the screws all the way down and it is still lose then the screws are bottoming out or you're not getting them tight enough. So get some shorter screws and see what happens. The bars should be 7/8" at the outside where your controls bolt on and then expand to 1 1/8" near the bend and at the center. Pro Tapers may shrink to a slightly smaller size at the ends for some reason. Also seeiof there is a gap between the little bottom plate and the throttle housing. If the gap is there then it can be tightened further, if not then the bars are gunna be too small and your gunna have to put a spacer of some kind in-between the bars and the clamp plate.

i say find a rubber grommet that will work around the bar and in the clamps. that way it will get tight

The clamp tightens just not enough. The plate doesnt have a space in between them when tight. The pro tapers must be slightly smaller on the control ends. Everything else bolted up just fine. Its weird.

Check to make sure you didnt reverse the screws, ones shorter than the other if I recall.

Yeah i didnt notice if the screws were different lengths. Ill check it out. And the electrical tape idea might do the trick. I will try it tomorrow.

The screws arnt bottoming out so its not the screws. I put electrical tape on the bar and it seems to be tight now but I will see how it holds up. Im thinking my clamp is worn out or something.

The tape should jold fine. I did that on my heated grip toggle and you can push on it as hard as you want and it wont budge.

And as long as your bars are black youd never know its there. If not u can always get different coulored tape.
