Don't all these shocks require the same work to be done to put on a 400ex?

Is there really any difference?

And is there a difference of these shocks from the year of the quads?

Just wanted to clear up some things. I been looking for a pair of shocks for my 400ex and wasn't sure which ones worked better because i see people having all 3 of the stated shocks on their 400ex.

Needs some minor tweaking, trimming the top of the shock mount or removing the bolt inside the frame.. All are the same, different colors..

Nope.

The KFX450 shocks are to thick for the top shock mounts and need 1/8" of material removed from the sides of the shocks.

Here is a pic of the stock 400EX shock next to my KFX450 shock mounts.

Here is a pic of the KFX450 shock ground to proper specs and installed on my EX. Don't mind the crappy weld on the broken frame.

I have a set of Kawasaki KFX 450r shocks for sale right now. The upper shock was milled down so it fits in the upper shock mount perfectly. I have been using them on a Kawasaki kfx 400. The only reason I'm selling them is because I got new shocks for Christmas. You can see them on Suzuki Central in the classified section under suspension. I have pics both on and off my quad.

Ok thanks everyone. I was going to get 450r shocks down the road but i wasn't 110% sure if i could get yfz450r shocks for any cheaper.

Stock kfx 450 shocks are horrible unless resprung/revalved.

Not on an EX. As I have both the KFX450 and the 400EX with KFX450 shocks, I set the EX shocks to the same settings as on my KFX450 and was blown away by how much better they are on the 400.

I'm not sure if it's the geometry or the weight of the EX but they are definitely better on the EX.

Haha well i'll probably stick to the yfz or honda 450r shocks. Can't go wrong with the honda ones.

yfz shocks are shorter and lower it an inch, need to be trimmed alot to fit and are much more plush. 450r shocks are an inch longer and stiffer but everyone uses them and imho they are a better shock.

What makes the yfz type shocks good is they have a progressive spring which works better in some applications. Almost like a dual spring setup.

Alright, thanks for clarifying everything. I'll just look around for some 450r shocks when i get some money.
