I just bought a used Hmf slip on and it doesn't fit my stock or powerbomb header. The mid pipe where it clamps to the header is to big.Does this require an adapter,or is it designed for an Hmf header?

Sounds like its made for a different quad because i thought they made them interchangable with stock, hmf, and other aftermarket headers, but i may be wrong.

There should be a adapter that goes in the end. The stock header is a 1 inch in diameter and a aftermarket header would be a 11/8 in diameter. A aftermarket header is normally bigger for better flow but they have different size adapters so the silencer can be a slip on also.

Find the adapter

OR

Take your stock header, go get some 2" car exhaust pipe and go see a welder. Weld it to your header right where the flange is on the header. Then use a band clamp to keep it tight.

Thanks guys.I figured it was going to be an adapter I was missing.

Contact HMF and see if you can get a adapter from them or if you know someone who could make you one. All it is is a piece of metal that slips in the silencer and has a hole to fit the header in the center.

an HMF slip on should fit exactly like a stock silencer. no adapters or anything. you may have the silencer off of a full system, or it is just not for a 400ex. my guess would be the first one if the mounts are correct.

I'm guessing it is off a full system. It bolts right up in the stock location.Other then the mid pipe being to big it fits perfect.I'll probably just make an adapter for it if Hmf wants to much for it or even sells one.
