Well Im not pc'ing my rims its gonna take too long but I still want them black so should I take the tires off and sand blast them or should i just scuff em up, prime it then paint it without takin the tires off?

Painting them will last approx 1-3 rides before it all flakes off. PC is the only way to go.

I would have to dis agree with you cjm I painted the rims on my foreman black and probably didn't even really sand them enough and they still look great after just over 3 months of riding sandy creek beds and busting the trails in the timber. Just my experience tho haha obviously the pc would be the way that would last longer for sure but its gonna cost you more to.

do u think it will stay on a while if i use self etching primer and real good black paint? My gpa is restoring a 68' El Camino and he uses this primer and he said i can use it if i want to paint somethin

Weather it sticks or not depends on your prep work! I painted arms on my Raptor 700 with no flaking or chipping. Be sure to clear it!

I'm getting my 400 frame PC'd and it's only costing me $55. I don't see 4 rims being anymore over $40 if you're taking it somewhere that knows what they are doing. And unless they are a big company then it shouldn't take more than 4-5 days to get them back.

PC would be best,
the local shop around here PC's rims for $10 a rim.

They just wait until they have 6 or 7 orders since it costs like $200+ just for a shop to turn a PC machine on.

I spray painted my rims and the work and everything just isnt worth it to me.
They havent chipped yet or anything but its still nowhere near as good as PC.

Yep, that's what I would do. Just PC them when your swapping your tires. It may take alittle longer, but you will deff. be happier in the long run.

Mine turned out great, they have nearly a season or two of MX on them, i just used some bare metal rustoleum paint, then used a rustoleum black, then a rustoleum clear.

Advice for painting rims.

Dont use primer.

try to use Flat colors no gloss but it is ok.

acetone or denature alcohol the wheels really well before painting.

dont scuff them up, they are fine to paint the way they are and if you ever take the paint off youll be glad you didnt scuff em.

Keep extra paint layin around in case you need a touch up.

if you take the tires off, youll scratch the paint puttin them back on.

Mine are painted and it looks ok, you could buy Gforce alloys real cheap.

Having them powdered is not only the way to go, but is the right way to go.. Spray bomb will not hold up if you ride in any kind of rockey or stoney areas.. Powder is def more durable..

They are organized it looks just like that on the other side, right to the left of the sparks sticker was a fox sticker but it came off during a ride, I like the looks of black rims on quads

i guess your right, itd be kinda hard to line them up along the bottom of the rear fender becuase of the new body style. im thinking of taking my stock graphics on and either getting metal mulisha graphics, or alpinestars graphics off brm offroad. or jusjt putting a big *** amsoil or wiseco sticker.

That looks good. I'm sure you could get it off the tires. Take some acetone, or nail polish remover (make sure it doesnt say non acetone) and dump some on a rag and wipe it off the tires.
