I need a front bumper and i am not sure on which one to buy. i installed an extra oil cooler so i need more protection in the front and i was looking at either this one http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/productDetail.do?navType=type&vehicleId=3011&navTitle=ATV+Parts&webTypeId=32&webCatId=24&prodFamilyId=15309

or

but i think the first on would have more protection .have you ever had any experience with it?

PRM, best built bumpers around. Otherwise Id buy pro armor.

Buddy of mine has the first one you linked, its ok but its quite weak. Both of his are bent up to hell by now and one the metal actually sheared.

i've heard of the motorsport brand ones being pretty weak as mentioned. The tusk one looks similar to AC and mine did well protection wise, i imagine it'd be suffecient for an extra oil thing considering its between the frame rails.

Yeah, PRM is definitely the way to go. I like the summit, but the baja looks like it offers pretty good protection too.

The tusk one looks better to me, also if you look at the ratings the first one is only 3.5 stars and the tusk is 4.5.

I actually just installed the Tusk front bumper last week to go with my Tusk nerf bars... I like it a lot, looks damn good, and offers much extra protection to the front of the ATV.

Yeah they do look really nice, as do the AC ones which are almost the same. I go with DG because they seem to be a pretty good medium of everything, good looks, good strength and lots of grabbing space for getting stuck. Not to mention I got it brand new for $11.

ya man. got it at a swap meet a guy had a bunch for banshees and 250r brand new in the packages. He said they were his brothers but he couldn't remember what he wanted for them, so he said I think $15 is a good price, got him down to $11. Bought another one and sold it to my buddy for $55. That guy's brother was probably pretty chapped.

I got to test out my brand new Tusk bumper today...

Got into a head on collision with a random dude while riding some tight sand trails in Florence, Or. He was on an ltz 400 with a PRO ARMOR bumper, it barley bent at all, not even a scratch on the black. My 400ex is fine, but the tusk bumper is completly destroyed :(

We were both good sports about it, asked each other if we were OK, shook hands and went our separate ways LOL

Now, im going to go buy a brand new PRO ARMOR bumper :D

Man that always happens right when you put something brand new on eh. Those tusk ones are really nice looking but they don't look as strong and thick as the pro armours or dg's.

Yep, that's for sure... At least it did it's job and protected my frame and a-arms/shocks. The bumper took 100% of the damage lol

In some ways that is what you want it to do. I use PRM six-pack rack on our quads. The tubing is smaller than some of the other brands but if you stand it up or flip it the rack will bend instead of the sub-frame. You can always straight it back up or buy a new one. Alot cheaper than the sub-frame.

I have a Pro-Armor as well.

I had to call PRM about their grab bar and the customer service was excellent.

in all seriousness, i wouldnt buy a prm just due to the fact that they are like $120

i have one and im selling it and going to go back to stock ( i dont use mine for protection much) but the reason is, im racing xc this year and all i am going to do is break the bumper, and with the price of the bumper its just as expensive as what you would break if you didnt run the bumper.

I would just get something that looks good and is somewhat cost efficiant, lets face it, its going to get broken at some point or another.

Things tend to jump out in front of you while your riding...

just my opinion to it.

Good bumpers deform and can usually be bent back if its not to serious a crash, cheap ones break and then you buy another one.

If you want one that is REALLY STRONG and great protection get the moose impact front bumper its amazing for xc.

i got a blaster that is widened and extended that i set up for xc. i used a moose pro plate front bumper and i hit a rock the size of the fourwheeler going about 35-40 and it barely bent at all, not even noticeable. i am trying to decide on either a moose impact or pro armor bumper for my 440 though. any ideas?

I have the pro armor xc bumper on my 400 right now its a very nice bumper but once you bend it it bends SUPER easy to bend again(pretty hard to bend it the first time) I say go with the moose impact i love that one. Either way both are the best in my opinion.
