I race alot of xc and only run Kenda kutters 20x11-9 you can find them alot cheaper than razrs. Also my cousing always gets razrs and they were alot faster than my kendas and hes a beginer racer (c class) and im a B class racer.

Im not positive but i dont think you would lose realy any power you probaly wouldnt hook up in the rear as well being 18`s

18s will be WAY to small to be worthwhile if you run anything but mx. I run 22 razr 2fronts and 20 rear kenda klaws. However most everyone I know runs razr 2's front and rear or razr 2 front and razr rear (the old razrs slide the rear a bit better).

Holeshots are nice tires, but I dont like them as much.

As much abuse as I put my quad thru on trails I run stock front wheels and douglas alumalite rears which I hate-the bead dents to easy.

Thats what I would do. Yea your gonna beat the wheels up but it happens. When they finally wont hold air anymore or are so bent they wobble replace them with better stuff.

Where I ride the trails are mostly hardpacked sand with stumps and stuff-we have no rocks really.

Honestly what makes a wheel strong is the rolled outer lip. All of the stock wheels have this, alot of aftermarket wheels do not and thats their downfall. That lip reinforces the entire wheel and makes it strong, rolled metal is stronger than flat metal-basic metalwork principles really.

Me, I want new wheels-something fancy I suppose. But they need to be tough as nails and that means big bucks in a beadlock and for now there are more important things-like going fast lol.

I don't race but where we ride has alot of big and small rocks. You will love the Maxis Rzr2's. They grab good in all conditions and the hold up great against getting sidewall cuts. The stock rims are more pricey than DWT rims and they might not look as fancy as some of the other rims but they take a licking. Fancy don't always get you to the finish line.

Why does everyone run the Rzrs when for half the price gbc xrex are the exact same tire? Is there something i'm missing?

b/c the xrex is the razr2 and its not always half the price. Right now I just checked...10 bucks more for the regular razr vs the xrex at rocky mountain atv and RMATV offers free shipping so 2 tires is cheaper in the end. Now the razr2 2 is more money of course, then the xrex is worth it.

I would stick with a 20" rear tire, I like my 18" for some GP racing but thats because theres no deep ruts, you usually need clearance for XC. I have run the Razr an Razr2 in XC....the nice thing about the Razr2 6 ply is its a tough tire an harder to punch a hole in it. The bad is its a heavy power robbing tire. I like the lighter 4 ply Razr.....but then I use to worry about a flat...lol....never got one though. When it was all 400EX the tire selection wasn't that bad, when going againt the 450's they would leave me in the straights an fields with the heavy 6 ply Razr's.

Yea i had a set of ITP front rims, they were just regular rims, nothing fancy about them, but they didnt have a rolled lip and i seriously bent them EVERY ride.

They looked like a aluminum pop can when i finally replaced them.

Im thinkin about going with the,GBC, XREX front and RACEREX rear. Its what Johnny Gallagher runs in GNCC so i want to try it out.

My wife's 250exElka's has the ITP SS109 and they were solid black when we got it. They came on it and it didn't take long to make the edge silver. Now they look like it has a silver ring around the edge. When she finally bends the rims I'll get her set of factory rims.

well so far ive just bought Razr 6ply rears and havnt decided on the front yet, should i get Razr MX 4ply (20-6-10) fronts $115 or Razr 6ply (23-7-10) fronts $150

razr 2 fronts, 6 ply. The 4 ply mx wont work out to good. I run razr2 fronts and wont run anything else. 22x7x10. 23 might be worth it, but 22 works fine for me.
