most laptops have a hard switch on the side to disable wireless. Is this set to allow wireless connection? It usually looks like a communications tower.
Do you have a wireless icon down on the bottom right...the row of icons? If so, right click and choose View available wireless networks. Do you see your wireless network (assuming you at least advertise the name of it).

Make sure the Wi-Fi is turned ON on the laptop. Then go into Control Panel and go to Network and Internet. Then go through there and search for your Wi-Fi network. Then connect from there.
You have to set the computer up to recognize the network. Your probably just allowing the computer to search for a network but the comp doesn't know to connect to it.

You do have a wireless router right? Do you have anything else that runs on the wifi?

yes i have the router but i have never used wifi at my house o im kinda new to this crap. i just tried and still cant get it to connect when it does it says connected with no network.
I had to connect my computer with my router with a wire when I first got it. After that, I could disconnect them and it would recognize it.
